2840 all-in one. If so, what procedure will give results? Respond to this 0 Still Trying by Fred K on Jun 13, 2006 at 8:52am http://fixyourownprinter.com/posts/39000 Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 I know this is old, but http://yourbusiness.azcentral.com/hp-laserjet-2820-say-replace-drum-new-drum-just-put-in-28283.html if anyone else is reading... the only way i've seen so far to reset this drum is to buy one of the reset chips online for around $10-$20. My next machine will NOT be an HP due to this limitation! by i22yb on Apr 21, 2008 at 7:02pm Add comment Please sign in to hp color comment 0 I putted another tonner´s chip on the drum and the printer recognized the drum as a non HP drum, but you can still print by pepetronik on Sep 24, 2008 at 7:52am Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 Just buy drum chip on ebay for around $10.00. That is the best way to go.www.officejetparts.com by Mersol on Jul 22, 2009 at 6:10pm Add hp color laserjet comment Please sign in to comment 0 Yanking the little chip off of a used toner cartridge and substituting that on the imaging drum works. I first learned this from another user on this forum. You have to carefully pry the two chips off, moving from one end to the other - they are held down by double faced tape. But you need to have a spent toner cartridge on hand it seems...I tried "switching" the chips between a toner cartridge in the printer and the imaging drum, and I got a supply error on the toner cartridge, so I had to go out and buy a new toner cartridge...not as bad as having to buy the drum, and it was almost empty anyway. Anyone know how to get around the error code 10.000x supply error w/o having to buy a new cartridge??? by lemmon101 on Sep 10, 2009 at 12:44am Add comment Please sign in to comment Wow -- your advice worked. I switched the chip from a used toner cartridge to the drum, and now the printer is working. This is a great way to get around the HP rip-off. You not only saved me a lot of m
Printer Drum Needs to Be Replaced? Laser Drum vs. Toner How to Reset a Ricoh Aficio Smart Chip Printer Has Stopped Because the Photoconductor Kit Has Reached the End of Its Useful Life Share on Facebook The HP LaserJet 2820 offers color output at 600 DPI, combined with scanning and copying functions into an all-in-one device. A new imaging drum carries an output rating of 20,000 pages for black-only printouts and 5,000 for color, with average lifespans ranging between 6,000 and 8,000 pages, based on five-percent page coverage. When your printer calls for another drum after you install a replacement, check your consumables and your installation procedure. Remanufactured Consumables If you decide to use a remanufactured imaging drum in your HP LaserJet 2820, your printer may not recognize it as a valid part when you first install it. An "Unauthorized" message on the device's control panel indicates that it requires a reset procedure to use the new supply item. Press the "Enter" key to override the sensors that tell the printer when the drum requires replacement. You must track drum usage manually when you use parts that the printer fails to recognize as original equipment. Look for light or faded printouts, vertical streaks, background shading on pages with no background tone, smears and repetitive marks as symptoms of a drum that needs replacement. Shipping Materials A new imaging drum ships with several protective parts made of orange plastic. If you don't remove all of them before you insert the drum into the printer, it can't operate properly. Look for pull rings on the front of the drum housing that release shipping pins on the side, shipping locks at the top of each end and a cover over the roller. Before you discard these shipping materials, inventory them and compare them to the parts shown in the installation instructions provided with your printer, verifying that you removed them all. Incorrect Installation The imaging
