when they pulled it out, the corner of the page was ripped, and they couldn't locate the jam. I have basically taken the whole machine apart and put it back together again and I can't find it either. The display will say "jam in front door", you open http://fixyourownprinter.com/posts/35152 the front door, then the jam moves to the fuser, take out fuser, and the jam has moved to tray 1, then tray 2. If anyone has seen something like this before, please let me know. I'm racking my brain, and it is starting to hurt. Thanks,Jeff Respond to this 0 Get a hold of the service manual and check all locations that have sensors and flags in the paper path. Either the paper is still activating a sensor/flag or the sensor/flag is out of position due to clearing the jam. by dmzcompute hp color on Jan 13, 2006 at 12:05pm Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 I also have this problem - exactly. I also could not find any paper stuck in the printer. I did get the printer to work for a while: on the fuser assembly, one blue lever was up and the other was down. I flipped both up and the printer worked fine for a day or two. I will troubleshoot more. This is a strange problem: Why does the jam error change when you open the front door (it then hp color laserjet says the jam is in the rear)?.Sheldon by scribb on Mar 3, 2006 at 7:03am Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 That would indicate a firmware problem, the 4200 has a similar issue where a jam location is misreported and if you take off any extra tray(s) the reported jam location changes. by Stephen on Mar 3, 2006 at 8:07am Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 That would be the notorious 13.20 jam message and here is one solution I have found. Happended on two printers.http://h20000.www2.hp.com by dmzcompute on Mar 3, 2006 at 12:36pm Add comment Please sign in to comment After 7 hours of fighting my 3500, I found this article. THANK YOU!! THANK YOU!!! THANK YOU!!! - Anonymous Thank you, Thank you, Thank you! - Anonymous Sure as @#$\% there was a corner of a piece of paper stuck behind the bottom sensor. Took me a few minutes to realize there was a top and bottom sensor. Once I lifted the bottom sensor, i found the paper put it back together and it worked. I kept getting rear fuser error 13.20 so I kept looking to see what was wrong behind the printer. Wrong. This was a front door jam. Thank you to dmzcompute - rtw 0 For the LJ 4200/4300 series a 13.20 error that you can not find is laible to be the transfer assembly, This is a PITA to change you need to take the printer into 2 different parts. Easy way to find out is lift up teh registration assembly and tape one of the sensors down and see if that fixes the problemFor the 3500 seri
