the carriage belt, but still the error.Anyone come accross this problem? Respond to this 0 I found this guide on HP's website that may be useful to http://www.fixyourownprinter.com/posts/37933 you.The 86.01 is a carriage movement failure. This could be due to a http://www.computercarefiles.com/TWI_Docs/bpp90131/default.html restriction in the scan axis (carriage axis), a bad encoder strip, or a bad sensor on the carriage. Clean and lubricate the rail first. Turn the printer on, see if the error goes away. Enter service mode. Turn the printer on while holding down the UP ARROW and ENTER keys simultaniously while turning on hp designjet the printer. Keep holding the buttons tilll you hear a beep. Enter SERVICE UTILITIES, then choose UNLOCK CARRIAGE. Turn the printer off, open the top cover, and move the carriage to the middle of the printer. Turn the printer on. If the error comes back, you may have a bad carriage sensor. If this is the case, the carriage would need to be replaced. If the 21:10 error hp designjet 500 comes up, you may have a bad service station. If the carriage moves but stops at one particular place, clean the encoder strip and inspect for damage. Unlock the carriage, turn the plotter off and move the carriage assembly back and forth by hand and see if it moves smoothly or has any "bumps." I have seen many where a small portion of the belt comes loose and wraps itself around the motor shaft causing a bumping action and occasional path sutdowns. I believe somewhere in my the menu you can perform a carriage movement test. If that is ok, I would lean towrds th
TWI Documents Library Index Page HP Designjet 500 and 800 Series Printers - TWI: System Error 86:01, Noise Along the Carriage Path In this document: Parts required (part numbers are subject to change) Troubleshooting steps Verify functionality Document number: BPP90131 Last Updated: 13-Aug-2003 Minimum skill level: 2 Introduction An unusual noise is heard when the carriage moves or system error 86:01 is being displayed on the printer’s front panel. General causes are media or other obstructions in the carriage path, the trailing cable, worn carriage bushings, lack of lubrication in the carriage path, a dirty encoder strip, the scan-axis motor, or the service station. Follow the steps listed below to accurately troubleshoot the issue, and replace the appropriate parts. Contact center agents (troubleshooting to be performed with customer) The steps below are designed to achieve remote resolution of the issue. If the issue persists following the steps below, generate a CSO for service. NOTE: The printer’s current firmware revision must be A.02.04 or higher for a new Service Station to work properly. If firmware is lower than A.02.04, download the newest available firmware before continuing with the remainder of this document. Visually check for jammed media or other obstructions in the carriage path and remove any obstructions found (remove any loaded media as well). Determine if the noise is normal. Some noise is normal. Specifically, it is normal to hear a slight clicking noise when the carriage moves under the left or the right-hand covers. If an 86:01 error occurs during initialization and the carriage does not move out of the Service Station continue Step 4, otherwise go to Step 5. Remove the right cover and check the cable connection between the Interconnect PCA and the Service Station motor. If connections appear normal, replace the Service Station (refer to pages 8-52 of the Service Manual). Attempt to verify functionality, if problems persist, continue with the remaining steps.
