I have windows XP, and I've tried troubleshooting and looking through windows' online support/information, and I'm not finding it very helpful. If I go to 'Device Manager' and look at the device status of either of the drives, it says the "The device is working properly" and doesn't show that anything is wrong. I have not recently installed windows XP, and I know that the disk drives are compatible with XP, since I've had this computer for over a year and they've worked fine until a few weeks ago. I haven't changed any hardware or anything like that either. Can someone help me identify what the problem is and suggest some ways to fix it? I found alot of helpful links at this site (duxcw) via google, but none have solved my problem. I have also never used Roxio software. I notice in the screenshot that the DVDRW icon changes to a plain CD Drive icon. Apparently in my D: > Properties I'm supposed to have a 'Recording' tab but dont. A Microsoft h&s link to solve this problem mentioned modifying a registry value, but because I have a DVD-RW (which worked fine only just yesterday) and they only talk about CDR/RW, I'm not sure what value to put in. Help!? Consider it...umm ██████ 26-05-2005,08:16 AM #2 Speedy Gonzales View Profile View Forum Posts Private Message Member Join Date Dec 2004 Location NZ Posts 44,416 Re: D drive is not accessible - Incorrect function Im pretty sure XP's built-in burning wasnt made for DVD burners. That maybe one reason why there's no recording tab. Coz, it doesnt support DVD burners. Only CD burners. It's pretty limited in what it can do. Use Nero for data and other things to burn whatever u need to DVD. Try deleting the DVD burner in device manager. And reboot it might change it to a DVD-RW in My computer...
