Pendrive Is Not Accessible Incorrect Function
Last week I tried a drag and drop in windows explorer that failed. since then my internal and external drives won't burn. they don't even show up in my Roxio as burn devices. I did not have any problems prior to the drag and drop failure. I have since uninstalled all of the burning softwares that were on my pc. I know it is not a hardware problem as I am able to burn to the external on other pc's.

Incorrectfunction. ByBlink Jul 6, 2005 Page 1 of 2 1 2 Next > Just recently, my CD-ROM and CD-RW, (D:\ and E:\ drives) Have http://www.techspot.com/community/topics/getting-e-is-not-accessible-incorrect-function-message-on-an-external-burner.31391/ stopped working. If I put in a disk, the program does not automatically run, whether it be a game, Audio CD, etc. If I go into 'My Computer' and click on either of the icons for the drives it comes up with a message 'D:\ (or E:\) is not accessible. Incorrect function.' and no matter what else I try (run, clicking a game icon on the desk top, etc...), it won't run http://www.techspot.com/community/topics/d-is-not-accessible-incorrect-function.28166/ the disk and always comes up with this message. I have windows XP, and I've tried troubleshooting and looking through windows' online support/information, and I'm not finding it very helpful. If I go to 'Device Manager' and look at the device status of either of the drives, it says the "The device is working properly" and doesn't show that anything is wrong. I have not recently installed windows XP, and I know that the disk drives are compatible with XP, since I've had this computer for over a year and they've worked fine until a few weeks ago. I haven't changed any hardware or anything like that either. Can someone help me identify what the problem is and suggest some ways to fix it? Jul 6, 2005 #1 howard_hopkinso TS Rookie Posts: 24,177 +19 Hello and welcome to Techspot. Couple of things for you to try. Go into your device manager, and uninstall the devices from there. Now reboot your system, and let Windows redetect them. If that doesn`t work, maybe changing the ide cable will help. So i decided to reinstall windows Vista and it worked. Everything startup ok and i did the windows update but when i try to access my third hard drive (E) which is a baracuda seagate 1.5tb SATA hard drive it will not let me in, it says E:/ is not accessible incorrect function. When i go to disk managment it says my drive (E) is RAW. Now my other 2 hard drives C and D are accessible i am able to go in there but not my third hard drive. Can some one tell me how to fix this problem as i have very important data on my drive E hard drive.
