Error on Network Request. Please check your network connection and try again."I thought it was just the one book and have requested a refund from Google Play. However, I just tried again, 24 hours later, to download a free but DRM'ed book just to test the waters and I am getting the same error I can download books (thank the heavens) from Kobo with no problem so it is not purely an ADE problem.Has anyone else had this difficulty or does anyone have any possible solutions I could try? (They would have to be simple as unfortunately I am not all that technical.)I have a few http://help.overdrive.com/customer/portal/articles/1481128-what-to-do-if-there-is-an-%22io-error-on-network-request%22-in-adobe-digital-editions- Google Play giftcards to use and the only thing I buy from them is books (Apologies if this thread is in the incorrect forum - mods, please move if so.)#2 soulfuldog 05-21-2015, 08:16 AMI'm in the UK and have just tried it with a DRM-free book via ADE and it was fine, but I get the same error as you with a DRM'd book. I tried deleting the files in the restore folder in http://www.mobileread.mobi/forums/showthread.php?t=260829 MyDE and turning off my adblocker but it made no difference, as per the instructions here:http://help.overdrive.com/customer/portal/articles/1481128-what-to-do-if-there-is-an-%22io-error-on-network-request%22-in-adobe-digital-editions-#3 cadele 05-21-2015, 09:23 AMQuote soulfuldogI'm in the UK and have just tried it with a DRM-free book via ADE and it was fine, but I get the same error as you with a DRM'd book. I ended up requesting a refund and buying it from Amazon. Luck;Ken#5 soulfuldog 05-21-2015, 10:58 AMAs you say, ADE works ok with Kobo and I have no problems with my overdrive library books either, so it must be something related to Google Play.#6 HarryT 05-21-2015, 11:34 AMDoes the Google bookstore have a customer service email or phone number that you could contact for assistance?#7 GERGE 05-21-2015, 11:53 AMMaybe they've started giving out the new Adobe DRM, that would be terrible. What is you ADE version?#8 HarryT 05-21-2015, 12:06 PMQuot
appears: IOError on Network Request; Please check your network connection and try again. Event Detail: Error #2038 Solution This message (I/O error 2038) indicates that Adobe Digital Editions could not contact http://mhp.softwareassist.com/SolutionFAQ.aspx?id=71 the authentication server. If you are trying to download the eBook using a https://ebookreadersoftware.wordpress.com/2011/05/12/how-to-solve-adobe-digital-editions-error-2038/ public network (i.e. library, store or from work) you will get this error. You will also get this error if you are accessing the Internet via a proxy server. We recommend disabling any firewall that you may have running on the computer. We recommend using a wired connection-- if you are having trouble io error using wireless internet, please plug the computer into your personal (home) router or cable modem directly, then try again. We strongly suggest using a broadband connection to download your eBook. Try to avoid using other programs or using the Internet during the download. The more RAM and Internet bandwidth you have free, the faster and smoother the download will go. Depending on the size of the io error network eBook, and the speed of your connection, the download could take anywhere from 15 minutes to over an hour. You can see the eBook file in your My Documents > My Digital Editions folder and you can see the file size increment periodically. That will tell you that the download is proceeding, and also how fast. Once the download is complete the download progress bar will disappear and the eBook will be displayed in Digital Editions. In rare instances a progress bar does not show during the download so it may be difficult to see if the download is complete. In this case you can tell the download is complete when the number of pages is filled in on the eBook's entry in the Library view (the list showing the eBooks you have on your system). If the download is interrupted for any reason, you should not try to reenter your code, re-click your original download link or re-run the ebx.etd file. You will only lose your allotted download attempts. Instead, simply re-open Digital Editions and it will resume the incomplete download. If you still have a problem after trying all of the above advice, let us
Error#2038 Adobe Digital Editions is a free program created by Adobe for use with PDF and EPUB ebooks that are protected by Adobe's DRM. Part of my work involves providing some technical support for users who encounter errors from this program. Since I don't work directly for Adobe, I've had to develop my own solutions to these errors. This particular error is frustrating for ebook users because the error doesn't give any hints as to what the problem actually is. The full text of error message is similar to this (depending on your computer): IOError on local file open Path: (this varies depending on the folder names in your computer) Event Detail: Error #2038 -- end -- Over time I've been able to identify three possible solutions to this error. Sometimes none of these three will solve it for a user, but these options take care of the majority of cases. A) The ebook has been removed from your "My Digital Editions" folder. Note: Only take this action if you're able to re-download the ebook from the store where you bought it. If you're not sure, login to your account at that store to see if you have additional downloads available for the ebook. If that is not shown, contact them to find out. 1. Delete the ebook from the Library. This will remove the bad file path that Adobe Digital Editions is using to look for the ebook. In Adobe Digital Editions, make sure you are in the Library view. To make sure that you are, click the Library button that looks like three books. This is in the top-left area of the screen. Next, click the ebook that you need to delete. You should see a small arrow appear next to it. Click that arrow, and then click Delete. 2. Re-download the ebook from the website where you bought it. B) Non-English characters.
