the subentries or search results and the '[error 4] sizelimit exceeded' message is displayed. Every time you are getting just a limited number of entries (e.g. 1000) returned. CAUSE Such a behavior may occur due to either of the two possible reasons, or both: Profile settings. An LDAP Administrator profile you have created for the server has settings which are responsible for the request timeout and the search result size limit exceeded 4 ldapsearch size limit. Those restrictions are sent to the server with each request and if the size limit is less than the number of subentries in a certain entry, the application won't be able to get all of them. LDAP Server settings. An LDAP server can be configured to return a certain number of entries that is not greater than the one defined. This can be done by modifying the server configuration files or the source code prior to compilation. In most cases such a configuration is made in order to optimize server load and prevent hacker attacks. WORKAROUND VLV or Simple Paging. Starting from version 3, LDAP Administrator features the Simple Paging and Virtual List View support. Their respective use is only limited to whether your server supports this kind of operations. To learn more on the above, please consult the application Help: Help->LDAP Administrator Help->Browsing Directory->Managing Large Amounts of Entries. Profile settings. To edit a server property, select a server item in the left-hand side tree view panel and press the Properties button on the toolbar or press Alt-Enter. Then select the "LDAP Settings" tab, where the Entry count limit input will be displayed. Enter a new value better meeting your requirements. A Zero for t

with SSO for some or all users. For the failed SSO transactions an examination of your server.log reveals the softerra ldap browser size limit exceeded error message "LDAP: error code 4 - Sizelimit Exceeded". Why is this happening and how can I fix it?Solution: The error "LDAP: error code 4 - Sizelimit Exceeded" is an indication that http://www.ldapadministrator.com/forum/sizelimit-exceeded-problem-t14.html too many search results are being returned by the search filter using an LDAP Data Store. This refers to the number of LDAP objects found in the search and does have anything to do with the existence of multi-valued attributes for a single object. For example, if a search finds one user, and that user is a memberOf attribute for multiple Groups or https://ping.force.com/Support/PingIdentityArticle?id=kA340000000GsD6CAK has multiple values of the "email" attribute, that will not generate this error and it will be handled cleanly by PingFederate. Essentially the LDAP interface is relaying a limitation set on the LDAP server. Some LDAP implementations have both a global setting and a per-account setting available to limit the size of the response sent back from the server. The directory server imposes a limit on: the number of objects to return from a search the amount of time spent on a search the number of entries to examine when creating the candidates list In addition an LDAP client can set explicit limits for any of the above when it initiates a search. Without reference to any Profile set up for the bind account, PingFederate is asking for exactly one result in most cases (the exception is the SaaS Provisioner.) Therefore if the combination of SearchBase and SearchFilter has more than one match this error will display. You should look at the search filter to confirm that it is specific enough to get exactly what is needed and is not too broad. (i.e. "abc" and not "a") Some ex
integrated with SunONE LDAP Server, the following error is logged in atlassian-crowd.log file; org.codehaus.xfire.XFireRuntimeException: Could not invoke service.. https://confluence.atlassian.com/crowdkb/ldap-search-fails-with-error-error-code-4-sizelimit-exceeded-181538625.html Nested exception is org.codehaus.xfire.fault.XFireFault: [LDAP: error code 4 - Sizelimit Exceeded]; nested exception is javax.naming.SizeLimitExceededException: [LDAP: error code 4 - Sizelimit Exceeded]; remaining name 'ou=xxxxx,dc=xxxxx,dc=xxx,dc=xxxxxxx,dc=xxx' Symptom 2: http://forum.spring.io/forum/spring-projects/data/ldap/42597-pagedresultsrequestcontrol-getting-ldap-error-code-4-sizelimit-ex Testing a Directory Connector fails! Performing a test search in the Directory Connector Configuration tab fails with similar error. Cause Cause for Symptom 1. SunONE doesn't support data limit exceeded paging Cause for Symptom 2. This is a known bug which is fixed in Crowd 2.0.3. The fix works for Connector Directories only. The Delegated Directories may present the problem but it would not impact the normal directory functioning. Resolution Resolution for Cause 1. Set LDAP property search-size-limit to a higher value. The value (the ldap error code default being 2000) depends on the maximum number of elements (users, groups and roles) your Crowd server will have to fetch at once from the LDAP server. Resolution for Cause 2. The bug is fixed in Crowd 2.0.3, if you are affected by this issue please upgrade to the latest Crowd version. What if these don't work? Please have a look over this KBUnable to Log In with Confluence 3.5 or Later Due to 'LDAP error code 4 - Sizelimit Exceeded'which involves turning off paged results. Was this helpful?
