directory, you are unable to get all of the subentries or search results and the '[error 4] sizelimit exceeded' message is displayed. Every time you are getting just a limited number of entries (e.g. 1000) returned. CAUSE Such a behavior may occur due to either of the two possible reasons, or both: Profile settings. An LDAP Administrator profile you have created for the server has

settings which are responsible for the request timeout and the search result size limit. Those restrictions are sent to the server with each request and if the size limit is less than the number of subentries in a certain entry, the application won't be able to get all of them. LDAP Server settings. An LDAP server can be configured to return a certain number of entries that is not greater than the one defined. This can be done by modifying the server configuration files or the source code prior to compilation. In most cases such a configuration is made in order to optimize server load and prevent hacker attacks. WORKAROUND VLV or Simple Paging. Starting from version 3, LDAP Administrator features the Simple Paging and Virtual List View support. Their respective use is only limited to whether your server supports this kind of operations. To learn more on the above, please consult the application Help: Help->LDAP Administrator Help->Browsing Directory->Managing Large Amounts of Entries. Profile settings. May be this message could be ignore as it is not error but warning. 4 Answers · Add your answer oldest newest most voted 5 Accepted Answer Size Limit Exceeded is an LDAP server error indicating that the search request was unable to return all entries due to a limit. The problem encountered is that the users or groups you are looking for may have been in the 1001+ entries and are not being returned. In AD, the default size limit is typically 1000 entries. The LDAP server error is usually followed by an error indicating the number of entries returned which is a few entries less than the actual size limit. There is nothing you can do to change this limit unless you are the LDAP server administrator. In Splunk, you can use filters to reduce the number of LDAP entries returned so that you do not hit this limit. An error code is associated with each type of issue. 2 Standard Error Codes Error / Data Code Error Description 0 LDAP_SUCCESS Indicates the requested client operation completed successfully. 1 LDAP_OPERATIONS_ERROR Indicates an internal error. The server is unable to respond with a more specific ldap error code error and is also unable to properly respond to a request. It does not indicate that the client has sent an erroneous message. In NDS 8.3x through NDS 7.xx, this was the default error for NDS errors that did not map to an LDAP error code. To conform to the new LDAP drafts, NDS 8.5 uses 80 (0x50) for such errors. 2 LDAP_PROTOCOL_ERROR Indicates that the server has received an invalid or malformed request from the client. 3 LDAP_TIMELIMIT_EXCEEDED Indicates that the operation's time limit specified by either the client or the server has been exceeded. On search operations, incomplete results are returned. 4 LDAP_SIZELIMIT_EXCEEDED Indicates that in a search operation, the size limit specified by the client or the server has been exceeded. Incomplete results are returned. 5 LDAP_COMPARE_FALSE Does not indicate an error condition. Indicates that the results of a compare operation are false. 6 LDAP_COMPARE_TRUE Does not indicate an error condition. Indicates that the results of a compare operation are true. 7 LDAP_AUTH_METHOD_NOT_SUPPORTED Indicates that during a bind operation the client requested an authentication method not supported by the LDAP server. 8 LDAP_STRONG_AUTH_REQUIRED Indicates one of the following: In bind requests, the LDAP server accepts only strong authenticat

I looked in the database and I can see entries for the metadata that I uploaded, but these don't show up when I try and do a search.Internet research reveals that the error about size limit exceeded has to do with a setting in Active Directory, but further goes on to say you need to narrow down your query in the app and avoid upping this limit in Active Directory. The problem is I don't know what part of the gpt.xml ldapadapter settings needs to be narrowed down because I thought I was as precise as I could be given our AD topology.I'm not even certain that this LDAP error is what is preventing the metadata from showing up, but I would like to get rid of all errors if possible.OutcomesVisibility: Geoportal1876 ViewsLast modified on Feb 8, 2011 9:51 AMTags:enterprise_gisContent tagged with enterprise_gisgeoportalContent tagged with geoportal_open_sourceContent tagged with _open_sourceThis content has been marked as final. In other words, if your max returned results from a directory search exceed the limit, Geoportal will throw an error instead of paging results in manageable chunks. This doesn't work well for my organization, as I want to be able to use my Domain Users group as the branch to authenticate against, yet it has over a 1000 objects in it which exceeds the MaxPageSize in AD. My sys admins are not willing to increase the limit since all other AD apps seem to be paging (at least those in the Microsoft stack). For now I've had to limit the DIT search to a certain group of domain users in a particular office....which will not work long term.Does anyone know if you can specify multiple DIT searches? I could add each office group into the gpt.xml if geoportal will spool through those.Like • Show 0 Likes0 Actions mhogeweg-esristaff Feb 18, 2011 6:19 AMhi, we'll loo
