This application uses VBA (Visual Basic 6) and this cannot be changed. We are in the midst of a conversion from Windows XP (where the application runs fine) to Windows 7. On Windows 7, attempts http://stackoverflow.com/questions/9744024/how-to-correct-for-inability-to-load-dao-dll-in-access-2003-on-windows-7 to connect to the Sybase databsae fail. The application uses a pass through query and when the failure occurs, I receive the following message: An unexpected error occurred in Call_SP. Error number: 48 Error description: Error in loading DLL Error source: Secure open security The particular line of code where this is throwing the error is: For Each qryDef In dbLocal.QueryDefs The items in this line of code are defined like this: Dim dbLocal As Database Dim qryDef As QueryDef Set dbLocal = CurrentDb() When originally launching the application, there was a missing reference for Microsoft DAO 3.6 Object Library. I copied the dao360.dll file to C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\DAO, registered it using regsvr32.exe, and set the reference (Tools -> References) to this file. At this point, I suspect the problem may have something to do with user rights on this machine, but I'm stuck on where to start. Users do have "read and execute" rights on the dao360.dll file. We have a lot of legacy apps written in Access, so our systems use Access 2003, but Word, Excel, and Outlook 2010. We are moving to Windows 7 64-bit. ms-access vba windows-7 dao share|improve this question edited Mar 17 '12 at 2:12 Bob7

The DB runs fine on my machine however if I try to open it on any other machine it won't open and it gives me the error - Error in Loading dll. I did some research and it suggested that one of my DLL files is error in loading missing on the other computer however I haven't used any dll files when I have been building the DB so I think it is one of MS Access's DLL's. I did a search with the built in XP search to find all the DLL's in the MS Office folder with in my computer and did the same on the other computer and am unable to find a DLL that my computer has that the other computer doesn't have. We are both running MS Access 2003 with SP3 and also both have the hotfix that came out a couple of weeks ago, and both computer's have same build number (11.8204.8221). Does anybody else have any other ideas? Posts: 14 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0 Times in 0 Posts error in loading DLL in Access 2003 I have an ADP that runs fine in Access XP but in Access 2003 this statement: currentproject.accessconnection produces this error: error in loading DLL Does anyone know which DLL contains the code for this statement? Better yet, when Access produces really unhelpful error messages like this is there any way to find out exactly what the problem is? I have tried running the Office repair process. I want to avoid reinstalling Office 2003 if possible (because I will lose all my customizations) but if it is the only way then so be it. PS I am really annoyed that the error message does not say which DLL it cannot load - this seems incredibly lazy coding. To be clear: The ADP file and the SQL database reside on machine A Access 2003 is on
