Server General Forum Question 0 Sign in to vote I just started getting a series of snmp event log extension agent did not initialize correctly errors relating to the SNMP service on one of my Server 2008 R2 VMWare virtual machines. I installed the August 2014 Security patches and restarted the

server and the errors started appearing. I did find some articles about a hotfix for Vista SP1 and Server 2008 but no mention of Server 2008 R2. Here is the link to the KB http://support.microsoft.com/kb/950923/en-us. I did remove the SNMP feature and then re-installed it but that did not help either. I have several other VMWare hosted servers running Server 2008 R2 and non of the rest have ever shown this error.Has anyone else seen this before on Server 2008 R2? I am getting the following errors: Log Name: Application Source: EvntAgnt Date: 8/28/2014 11:43:55 AM Event ID: 3005 Task Category: None Level: Error Keywords: Classic User: N/A Computer: Description: Error positioning to end of log file -- seek to end of log failed. Monitor an unlimited number of servers with $49/year With the current low prices for servers and the need for processing power, even a small company may end up with quite a few of them. If ten years ago it was still common to see an entire company using just one server, these days that's no longer the case. New computers are added to the network with the understanding that they will be taken care of by the https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/dce381f0-f698-46fa-9d77-8d46732e238a/snmp-errors-on-startup-evntagnt-3005-3001-2019-1020-2019?forum=winservergen admins. Keeping an eye on these servers is a tedious, time-consuming process. Even with 5 minutes per server (to check the logs and other parameters), it may take an hour to make sure that everything is ok and no "red lights" are blinking on any of the servers. read more...
