They receive a memo that states: "Mail file upgrade failed for: XXXXXXX Please check http://www-10.lotus.com/ldd/nd6forum.nsf/869c7412fe5d56b7852569fa007826e3/d68246dce4c1773a8525745e00503f7b?OpenDocument your local log database for the cause of the failure" The log.nsf on the local workstation displays errors similar to the following:
Notes... could be installed. Your system has not been modified..." When Installing a Fix Pack or a Hotfix install; fixpack; interim fix; Lotus Notes http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21961008 8.5.3; replacecorefiles failed; shared/help Technote (troubleshooting) Problem You are installing a fixpack (or a hotfix) and the installation failed with the following error: "The wizard was interrupted before IBM Lotus Notes... could be installed. Your system has not been modified..." Note: The problem is not specific to the version indicated in the above screen shot. Symptom The parameter Directory= and/or SharedDataDirectory= in the lotus error local notes.ini point to a non-default path (referred to in this document as "custom path"). E.g. Directory=U:/Notes and SharedDataDirectory=U:/NotesShared Cause It was found that the fixpack/hotfix installer incorrectly installs the updates to the default path of shared data folder instead of installing it at the custom path. Since the default shared data folder does not exist, the installer would fail to copy the updates lotus error 29 causing the installation to fail. Environment Any Notes Client installed with a custom path for Data and Shared Data directories. Diagnosing the problem The LotusInstall.log/IBMNotesInstall.log shows the following error, indicating that creation of the specified folder failed: 2015-05-21T01:29:37.37-06:00 CCCUActionsApp/ReplaceCoreFiles: Directory not existed, creating: C:\ProgramData\\Lotus\Notes\Data\Shared\Help 2015-05-21T01:29:37.37-06:00 CCCUActionsApp/ReplaceCoreFiles: Could not create new directory: C:\ProgramData\\Lotus\Notes\Data\Shared\Help 2015-05-21T01:29:37.37-06:00 CCCUActionsApp/InstallCoreUpdate: ReplaceCoreFiles failed! Re-running the installer does not resolve the issue. When the installation fails, the above folder structure is not created. In one instance, the problem occurred while installing Lotus Notes 8.5.3FP6IF6 on top of Lotus Notes 8.5.3FP5. After the installation failed, the installa did not roll back to the previous fix pack version. Resolving the problem This issue has been reported to Quality Engineering as SPR QMGO9YXDML under APAR LO85873, and was fixed in IBM Notes 9.0.1FP5. Prior to IBM Notes 9.0.1FP5, the work around is to manually create the folder C:\ProgramData\\Lotus\Notes\Data\Shared\Help and re-run the install.
