Solved Error:Real mode system memory allocation failed Posted on 2004-01-26 Windows OS 1 Verified Solution 7 Comments 670 Views Last Modified: 2013-12-29 I have recently bought a new game (Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2004) and the installation manual advised updating the graphics card drivers. So I downloaded and installed memory allocation the new driver from the nVidia webiste. However, when the computer tries to reboot I get the following message: - While initialising device IOS: Error:Real mode system memory allocation failed So I booted up in Safe Mode, which worked fine, and uninstalled the new driver and reinstalled the old driver (from CD which came with computer). The PC booted up fine. I then tried all the drivers from the nvidia website, but everytime the same error message comes memory allocation failed up before windows boots. It will only work on the original driver. I have searched many web pages about this problem, and most point to faultly RAM. I therefore ran several memeory diagnostic tools MemoryDoctor, Nortton Unitilies, but no errors have been found. I have even bought new RAM, still no joy. Please can you help. I can't see why it is a RAM problem when Windows will boot when I use the original display driver.
