Click on the file menu, select open, browse to the client file. Click the down arrow next to the open button and choose Open and repair. If that does not solve your problem then try copying everything in the document Except the final paragraph mark. of your mailmerge main document. I suggest you examine the field coding (via Alt-F9) to try to discover the errant field. If nothing's obvious, try deleting fields one at a time and re-running the merge (on a small sample) until the error goes away. When it does, close the mailmerge main document (without saving) and re-open it, then take a closer look at the field in question. If you can't see anything obvious, post a text representation of the field code *exactly* as it appears in the document and we'll see what we can do to resolve the problem. -- Cheers macropod [Microsoft MVP - Word] "Michael M" wrote in message news:20102162027walker0525@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx Is it possible to override https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/24310545/a-field-calculation-error-occured-in-record-word-mail-merge.html the field calculation errors? I have tried a On error goto type command but it doesn't seem to detect the pop-up as an error. If you create a simple mail merge main document with no text, images, etc, do you see the problem? Make sure the document is completely blank other than the http://www.tech-archive.net/Archive/Word/microsoft.public.word.mailmerge.fields/2010-02/msg00004.html stuff you insert, i.e. no headers/footers etc. (A "bad" normal.dot could be inserteing something unhelpful into every document you create). b. Do you actually have any calculation fields in the problem documents ( i.e. {=} fields ?) c. Do you have numeric picture switches (e.g. \#$,0.00 ) in any of your fields, and if so, do the characters for the decimal point and separator match the ones in your Windows regional options? -- Peter Jamieson http://tips.pjmsn.me.uk "dannyw"

There is 1 document that is the main one setup to use for mail merge. There is a column in the recipiant list that is meant to select the document that will be used for that row. so for example there is a column that looks like: TY_LETTER_NO 02F 41E 02E and there are word documents with file names r02F.doc r41E.doc r02E.doc The main document was corrupted I believe and when trying to do the mail merge as usual we microsoft word mail were receiving an error. "a field calculation error occurred in record #" So from what I read the document was corrupted. I remade the document and the mail merge as I know how. but I don't know how to use the excel column to select the other document templates. I am still able to open the original master mail merge document but I don't see anywhere that indicates this either. microsoft-excel microsoft-word mail-merge share|improve this question asked Feb 6 '14 at 20:56 Sackling 1346 It is hard to help you. Can you provide some more background for instance the macro being used? –Guido Leenders Feb 7 '14 at 9:34 Part of the problem is that I don't see any macros in the word document. If I click developer>macros there is nothing listed in there –Sackling Feb 7 '14 at 14:26 ok. It seems you will have to either develop it again, do it manually, restore from backup or something else. You may want to consider using the free vresion of Invantive Composition, but it is still somewhat different (i am involved with it). Good luck. –Guido Leenders Feb 7 '14 at 15:41 add a comment| active oldest votes Know someone who can answer? Share a link to this question via email, Google+, Twitter, or Facebook. 2003. JBS Guest Every record that I try to merge from a 200-record table produces this error message. If I run 3 or 4 at a time, the error message comes up each time, but the results are correct on the merged document. If I try to run more than 6 records at a time, however, the program freezes after the first six errors come up. I've checked all of the data and don't find anything obvious. There are no formulas in any of the cells. Are you using any fields that are NOT Mergefields (press Alt+F9 to see all the field codes)?
