Error Posted by: Lucy John Follow me: @Lucyy_John “Yesterday night, while I was working on Word file it crashed suddenly and I had to close it forcefully. After refreshing my system, I tried to open Word file to resume my work but got an error message that ‘sorry, you cannot open word document XXX.docx because there is a problem with its contents’. Below error message has two options called OK and details. I clicked on ‘details’ in order to get information about the error message. However, I found another error message that ‘unspecified error Part: /word/document.xml, Line 2, Column: 0’. I would greatly appreciate if someone has any solution for my problem” Sometimes at the time of working on Microsoft tool, it might suddenly crash and upon restarting it, you may get XML http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msoffice/forum/msoffice_word-mso_other/unspecified-error-worddocumentxml-line2-column-0/21971fa0-df44-4ba6-ac42-7d4b5cd4174f error message that makes entire contents inaccessible. Without any details, its hard to tell what it is. And unless someone else can prove me wrong, the only solution is probably unzipping the docx and hunting the issue down manually in document.xml. Yves p0, Jan 12, 2009 #3 Aldon Guest I have Win XP and am using Word 2007. I created the template using 03 and had to recreate the template when we switched to 07. I have that template saved and create documents based on that template. Once the document is typed, saved, and closed this error comes up when I try to open the document. We have been using this template for nearly a year without any problems. I first experienced the problem and now other people in the office are getting the same errors. I have the template organized in Word tables with form fields that have macros in certain fields to check spelling. I am not sure of the "open and repair" option. I am not prompted to do this and am not familiar with it. Thanks, Aldon "CyberTaz" wrote: > Not knowing what version of Word (2007?... earlier version with converters?) > or which version of Windows (XP, Vista?) it's hard to offer specifics, but > have you tried the Open & Repair option? > -- > HTH |:>)
Recovery Savvy DOCX Recovery Open corrupt Word DOCX files and possibly recover formatting too. Brought to you by: socrtwo22 Summary Files Reviews Support Wiki Code Tickets Discussion 259 Downloads (This Week) Last Update: 2016-02-27 Download savvy_corrupt_DOCX_setup_3.0.0_with…exe Browse All Files Windows Screenshots Description XML was designed from the beginning to be intolerant of errors. This decision adversely affects MS Word's corruption recovery. With one error in the document.xml subfile where all the DOCX file's text is stored, instead of a partial recovery, Word will stop and throw an error. Savvy DOCX Recovery attempts to do precise surgery on corrupt Word documents to reorder or excise bad XML tags. If this doesn't work, it uses the command line app xmllint first to attempt to repair corrupt XML subfiles of the DOCX. If this doesn't work a second attempt is made where the corrupt XML subfiles are truncated at the first error, and the correct ending tags are again added with xmllint. If all else fails, SilverCoder's DocToText is used to extract text.
