I had already installed the Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable (x86), and tried reinstalling and rebooting the server before finally using Dependency Walker to determine that the myodbc5S.dll was looking for msvcr120.dll. Installing Microsoft Visual C++ 2013 Redistributable (x86) provided the DLL and resolved the installation error for version 5.3.6 of the ODBC connector. How to repeat: Run the 5.3.6 installer on a system that does not provide msvcr120.dll (lacks the 2013 Visual C++ libraries).
