The explanation for this issue and possible solution for you can find at: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;260558 [4 Dec 2003 10:12] Wizard of Oz Dear Miguel, Thank you for your efforts, the referenced article at Microsoft (KB260558) unfortunately does not solve the problem. I am quite certain that the MDAC installation is correct. It was just verified with a special utility called "Component Checker" which you can download from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=8F0A8DF6-4A21-4B43-BF53-14332EF09.... According to this tool the MDAC installation is 100% OK, yet the problem with the MySQL ODBC driver remains. Note that this is a machine with hardly any software running on it, a clean NT4 installation with MDAC 2.8 installed. There are no problems with a SQL ODBC driver, only the MySQL doesn't work. This is quite a shame since we can't use MySQL here. Best Regards, Ingmar Koecher. [22 Jul 2004 3:45] Timothy Smith Unfortunately, we can't repeat this problem to figure out what is wrong. This issue has been stalled for eight months now, so I'm setting it to "Can't Repeat". If any further information is available, I would be glad to hear of it. With apologies, Timothy [3 Aug 2004 2:09] Chris Jeske I've had this problem twice now. Running the same setup as you, NT 4.0 with SP6 and latest MyODBC driver. When I run Setup and it starts installing odbc driver calling the ODBC functions in the template, I end up with the following error message: "Could not load the setup or translator library. Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb). I came across this problem when I was investigating another ODBC probem. The InstallShield script that Setup ran was written with version 5 of InstallShield. The platform is Windows 95 and I have no other Microsoft applications installed on the machine, including ODBC. Any ideas? I searched the InstallShield and Microsoft websites and found no clues. Thanks, Glenn 12-05-1997,01:00 AM #2 NewsArchive View Profile View Forum Posts Uber User (1000+ Posts) Join Date Oct 2001 Posts 44,727 Performance, IS3 vs. IS5 Hi, Has anyone noticed a considerable performance hit when going from IS3 to IS5 in the file copying process ? My install is about 40 Mb, and the file copying step seems to be about 10 (!) times slower. It really takes a long time. I reverse-engineered all of the IS5 configuration scripts (file groups, components, etc.) since our builds run unattended overnight, and I'm wondering whether each file might have an error or something. It's *really* slow! -Eric -- Eric van Bezooije
