Printing usually happens with no issue, however sometimes when they click the print icon, (in the 'file-->print' section) it will display 'word cannot print,

there is no printer installed'. The client tells me they can go to control panel and print a test page successfully, but word/excel will not print. In order to resolve the issue they close the program, reopen it and printing works straight away. Today I asked them to restart the print spooler, instead of closing/reopening word, this did not resolve the issue.

closing and reopening did fix the issue. So far they have experienced the issue with Word and Excel only, however they don't use the other programs a great deal. The printers are distributed with group policy. In addition to network printers they use PDF Factory (which is like PDF Creator). I have been unable to reproduce the issue. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated, thank you! Friday, December 03, 2010 10:23 AM Reply | Quote Answers 0 Sign in to vote ATK, I wondered, are you running x64 or x86 Office? or Excel 2010, but prints fine from ANY other app. using network printers, tried reinstalling user profile, reinstalling ms office, this is what finally worked: Weird fix, but it works: Exit out of all MS office apps I ended https://community.spiceworks.com/how_to/3604-word-2010-cannot-print-no-printer-available-error up installing a phantom printer, an HP 910 on LPT1, set it as default http://www.edugeek.net/forums/office-software/132918-word-excel-no-printers-installed.html printer, went to print to it, it just hangs in that print queue of course, but goes through. Then I change printers to the network printer, and it prints fine too! So... I try changing the default printer to the network printer now, still leave the HP 910 setup on the pc in the printer listings, and.. voila, prints no printer fine. So I tell the user NOT to delete that printer, and he should be printing fine Weird, don't know what caused that or what the underlying reason for what is going on, but it's a fix. 5 Comments Cayenne JBarnett Jun 14, 2012 at 01:26pm Everytime I have insalled a network printer in Win7 I have had to reboot the computer for Office 2010 to print from that network printer. Office 2007 worked no printer installed just fine without a reboot. I don't know why but that's how I fixed it for me. May or may not apply to your situation, just thought I would share. Serrano Don4511 Jun 14, 2012 at 05:58pm Is this the regular Office 2010 (Standard or Professional) or is it the Starter Edition? If it's the Starter Edition, it's not really installed on your computer, but on an "invisible" virtual machine. I've had to uninstall/reinstall printers to get them to work again, not to mention playing with the firewall as well. There are several articles in Microsoft's KB that walks you through some of the possible fixes. It started off being quite rare but is happening with more frequency. Basically you try and print in Word or Excel 2010 and you get the error "No printers installed". Everything other program prints fine and the only way for a user to fix it is to close and reopen Word/Excel. A bit of Googling shows that this something to do with running 32 bit Office on a 64 bit system and printer drivers; it appears that the options are: Install 64 bit Office 2010 - MS advise against this unless you really need to.Install Office 2013 - not played too much with this, is there much for users to complain about learn? I assume that since reopening Word fixes it, this isn't the problem here?
