There is a lots of information on this event and how to fix it but I am having a hard time tieing it all together. What are the exact steps I need to take resolve this issue. get-exchangecertificate return the following for the FQDN listed in the no valid smtp tls certificate for fqdn event log Thumbprint ServicesSubject ---------- -------- ------- XXXXX876C45D19BA885E9FA96C48DD0C7DCXXXXX IP... CN=SBSSERVER.mydomain.local Log Name: Application Source: MSExchangeTransport Date: 2/15/2011 6:46:27 AM Event ID: 12016 Task Category: TransportService Level: Error Keywords: Classic User: N/A Computer: SBSSERVER.mydomain.local Description: There is no valid SMTP Transport Layer Security (TLS) certificate for the FQDN of SBSSERVER.mydomain.local. The existing certificate for that FQDN has expired. The continued use of that FQDN will cause mail flow problems. A new certificate that contains the FQDN of EXCHSERVER.mydomain.local should be installed on this server as soon as possible. Scenario. Once had a SelfSigned Certificate. Changed to a valid CA. Installed via IIS. I'm assuming Exchange does not know about the new certificate, thus throwing these error(s). I have listed all certificates and have six (see below for full details). One certificate is a third party SSL from GoDaddy. Having researched the error, the suggested fix is to run the following : Get-ExchangeCertificate –Thumbprint “F97A00222D212197DB17CDE5453C73746A660CD4"| New-ExchangeCertificate Q1 : How do I know which is the TLS certificate ? I assume it is one of the expired ones so picked the one which only had SMTP listed as the service and was expired.
