If you don't know which you can make a soft reset and start over. Regards, Johan Franson Support avcono Posts: 3 Joined: Tue Nov 28, 2006 10:05 pm RE: [55] could not found comm port! I'm kinda new at this, so pardon the shakey vocab. When I try to connect via the BT Manager, I get an error message: "Unable to establish a connection. Please make sure the device is enabled and in range. Also verify that the requested service is available." I'm not sure what it means by "verify that the requested service is available." I am using ArcPAD SW error 55 attempting on my PDA and have also tried using SA2005HH, both SW give me the same error message when I try to connect via them: "BTTrace No bluetooth serial ports could be found for device Earthmate Blue Logger GPS." If I'm using ArcPAD, a second error comes up: "Error 55 when attempting to open communication to port com 6." My BT settings on my PDA state that the serial port settings should be: inbound com port 8, outbound com port 6. On my PC it's a different story. I can connect to the BL manager no problem but in the system device manager it tells me the BT com ports are 3 & 4. I'm a bit confused as to which com ports to use where, and all of the documentation I've found so far has not been helpful. Another helpful tidbit of information in figuring this out could be that when I view devices in range on both my PC and my PDA there is a big question mark over the top of Earthmate BL GPS. I've looked up in the help browser that this means that it's an unknown device. I'm not sure what this means. Has anyone had similar problems with

The "explain error" says this means "the network operation is in progress". This does not seem to have anything to do with initializing a serial port and is also not very helpful for how to correct the problem? It is also not true since the errorcode is returned after the Init VI has finished, notwhileits operation is in progress. Following the Error 55, Iget Error 8 when using Serial Port Read VI and"explain error" says this means "File permissions error. You do not have correct permissions for the file." Since I amtrying to read a serial data stream, not a file, this also doesn't make much sense. Could I be seeing the wrong explanations since I am viewing the error explanations on the PC instead of on the PDA (I am doing this in a VI created as a Windows Mobile 5.0 Pocket PC Device in Project Explorer) or is this as good as it gets? I want to make some elegant method to notify the user of what should be done when the serial connection is not made, but I am worriedthat other error codes than just these 2 may occur and how best to handlePDA errornotifications to the user.Jerry 0 Kudos Message 1 of 8 (1,954 Views) Reply 0 Kudos Re: Er
