Printer Says Door Open But Its Not
2008 at 11:29am Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 I have ONLY JUST managed to fix three of these extremely simply after months of having this fault keep coming up.* Open the back cover* Pull the flap down that hides the orange roller on the fuser (Careful it's Hot on that fuser!!)* Locate the thin piece of plastic that runs from the centre to the right hand side. This bar is the problem* 3/4 along the right hand side, there is a sticky out bit on this bar that should sit in a hole.* I have found three printers where this was not located properly. Once I located it properly, the 'door open' error went away. by unknown on Sep 15, 2008 at 1:58am Add comment Please sign in to comment Thank you so much for listing this fix. What can I do to fix this? Share this conversation Expert: Colin Vincent replied4 years ago. Colin Vincent : Hi there. The back cover error is usually caused by a paper jam. If paper jams in the fuser area at the rear of the printer, it often presses against the actuation lever for the back cover giving a false warning that the door is open. If you open the http://www.justanswer.com/printers/64yjh-brother-mfc-7420-says-close-back-cover-back-cover.html rear door you will see a pull down black plastic cover for the fuser rollers. If you pull it down you will likely find paper is jammed inside. The rollers may be hot if the printer has been on so don't touch the fuser rollers.Customer: Working on it.Colin Vincent : okCustomer: Done!! Colin Vincent is online now I have a Brother printer MFC-7420. It claims the back cover Resolved Question: I have a Brother printer MFC-7420. It claims the "back cover is open"..."Close the back cover". However, the back open error cover is NOT open and when I open and close the back cover, it still doesn't work. I've also tried turning the machine off and on again to try and clear the message. What's the problem? Submitted: 5 years ago. Category:Printers Share this conversation Expert: Colin Vincent replied5 years ago. Colin Vincent : Hi there. The back cover error is usually caused by a paper jam. If paper jams inside the fuser back cover open area (behind pull down flap within back door) then the jammed paper can stop the arm that activates the door sensor from reaching the position for closed. Hence the printer beleives the door is open when it is not. If you open that rear cover and pull down the black plastic flap within it will reveal the fuser rollers. I suspect you have paper jammed somewhere around that point. Note that the fuser rollers will be hot if the printer has recently been on so don't touch the hot areas.
