Please type your message and try again. pggood Level 1 (1 points) Q: Have I been hacked? I've been having serious problems with my Mac. Safari is unusable and now if I open Finder my computer comes to a halt. Running Disk Utility several times I always have the following at the end of the repair disk permissions. I dont know why ruby, gem and tmail would be installed on my machine. I do use Unix for some basic unix connections and run Matlab but don't think I should have tmail or gem on there. Does anyone know how to remove these programs if I should? Will an anti-virus like Sophos check for this?Open error 5: "Input/output error" on System/Library/Frameworks/Ruby.framework/Versions/1.8/usr/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/doc /actionmailer-1.3.6/ri/TMail/MailFlags/cdesc-MailFlags.yamlOpen error 5: "Input/output error" on System/Library/Frameworks/Ruby.framework/Versions/1.8/usr/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/doc /actionmailer-1.3.6/ri/TMail/MailFlags/flagged%3d-i.yamlOpen error 5: "Input/output error" on System/Library/Frameworks/Ruby.framework/Versions/1.8/usr/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/doc /actionmailer-1.3.6/ri/TMail/MailFlags/flagged%3f-i.yamlOpen error 5: "Input/output error" on System/Library/Frameworks/Ruby.framework/Versions/1.8/usr/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/doc /actionmailer-1.3.6/ri/TMail/MailFlags/replied%3d-i.yamlOpen error 5: "Input/output error" on System/Library/Frameworks/Ruby.framework/Versions/1.8/usr/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/doc /actionmailer-1.3.6/ri/TMail/MailFlags/replied%3f-i.yamlOpen error 5: "Input/output error" on System/Library/Frameworks/Ruby.framework/Versions/1.8/usr/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/doc /actionmailer-1.3.6/ri/TMail/MailFlags/seen%3d-i.yamlOpen error 5: "Input/output error" on System/Library/Frameworks/Ruby.framework/Versions/1.8/usr/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/doc /actionmailer-1.3.6/ri/TMail/MailFlags/seen%3f-i.yamlOpen error 5: "Input/output error" on System/Library/Frameworks/Ruby.framework/Versions/1.8/usr/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/doc /actionmailer-1.3.6/ri/TMail/Maildir/each_port-i.yamlOpen error 5: "Input/o

It is about two years old. It has to do with text edit.app. My 'puter is slowed to a crawl and I do not know how to fix it. I have used the disc utility, both Verify and Repair and it cannot repair it. This is only the second problem I have had with the Mac and am wondering how to deal with it. I have not experienced an I/O problem with this computer and I can't figure open error 5 out what I did to cause it as I use the computer for my photography business and email. I thought it might be a virus but doubt that. My reason for thinking this is my son came by and went on his G Mail and Facebook accounts about the time that this started. Any suggestions? That is "text edit", not test edit in the subject line ( Last edited by Photocro; Aug 14, 2008 at 05:37 PM. You have a discussion in the Mac OS X forum. http://forums.macnn.com/90/mac-os-x/...i-o-error-5-a/ Multiple threads on the same subjects results in posters having to read & reply twice and gets frustrating very quickly.
