FRM-40200: Filed is protected against update Discussion in 'Oracle HRMS & Payroll' started by vamsioracle, Jun 4, 2009. vamsioracle Forum Expert Messages: 98 Likes Received: 1 Trophy Points: 140 Hi all I have a query , which has got to do with both functional and technical knowledge. HRMS--> People--> enter and Maintain screen. I query for an employee and navigae to absences. Now i want here to change the available balance for a leave type for the employee. My questions are, Technical: I get FRM-40200: Filed is against updation error. How to solve this. Im ust be able to enter the values https://community.oracle.com/community/developer/search.jspa?q=FRM-40200 manually. Functional: Is it possible to change the running total manually, for a leave type. Vamsi vamsioracle, Jun 4, 2009 #1 Kirti Forum Advisor Messages: 46 Likes Received: 12 Trophy Points: 130 hi i am a technical person so I can't give you much functional solution but the FRM-40200 is not really an error. It means that you are trying to make an entry in a read-only or non-updateable field. And about the HRMS http://www.club-oracle.com/threads/frm-40200-filed-is-protected-against-update.972/ thing, I believe to modify the leave balances one has to define some elements and absense management setups. Sorry I can't be more specific, but this link should help you. http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/A60725_05/html/comnls/us/per/absmt05.htm#abssteps Kirti, Jun 5, 2009 #2 vamsioracle Forum Expert Messages: 98 Likes Received: 1 Trophy Points: 140 Hi Kirti Yes, you are right. I am trying to change a value. because i ad to. Is it possible to do so in Apps. vamsi vamsioracle, Jun 5, 2009 #3 srinath Active Member Messages: 7 Likes Received: 1 Trophy Points: 65 as far as I know you cannot enter leave balances like that. You need to define your leave elements and enter the default values from the element link window. I haven't done HRMS setup just looked it in my instance. srinath, Jun 5, 2009 #4 sreekumar.nair.it Guest Hello frnz, You wont be able to change the leave balance until and unless you make changes in all other related or linked records. Normally leave balance are not modified directly. As far as the technical error message is concerned, this error occurs when u try to modify the values of a field for which Update Allowed property has been set to NO. sreekumar.nair.it, Jun 6, 2009 #5 vamsioracle Forum Expert Messages: 98 Likes Received: 1 Trophy Points: 140 Thanks all for you
