I'd use XP instead. If you, for some reason, http://www.orafaq.com/forum/t/184483/ don't want to use Windows XP as the "main" operating system, install virtual machine (such as VirtualBox), put XP onto it and, finally, install Forms 6i. I know, that's me and my opinion which you most probably won't follow. Therefore: how are you installing Forms? Do you have privileges to write to a directory specified in the path? I guess that you should have administrative rights in order to be able to continue the installation process. Also, pay attention to directory name and try to avoid names with spaces in it (i.e. not "C:\Oracle\Forms 6i\" but "C:\Oracle\Forms6i"). Solution: oracle forms 6i Check your environment path its size must be less than 1024 character. Fix it some around 900 characters such as C:\Oracle\Dev6\BIN Be sure to save the value of the PATH in some text file BEFORE modifying it. Always backup your registry before modifying it to so any thing goes wrong you can import again the previous registry. Check my other post "How to Export the current registry setting as a backup": While re-installing it is better to stop your anti virus. May be possibility antivirus will interrupt your installation process. When restoring the PATH to the original value (after Forms installation and restart), don't forget to add the new Oracle home part of the PATH (e.g. C:\Oracle\Dev6\BIN). Added it to the end, to preserve old Oracle settings. Encountered following the error (PRVF-3929) It states that the environment variable path is too long. To reach this variable I searched "envir" in Windows and selected "Edit variable settings for your account". Presumably it's the path of the system rather than user that must be changed. Can I delete at my discretion - naturally removing extensions will have a bearing on different language compilations. Why does Oracle demand this limit and is this specific to the install of Oracle or is it a permanent limitations of using oracle dbms? oracle11g installation environment-variables rdms system-variable share|improve this question edited Apr 1 '13 at 11:13 asked Mar 31 '13 at 22:01 Stumbler 95631735 Pls refer to this link with same issues stackoverflow.com/questions/12089655/… –Amigo May 29 '13 at 18:28 @HolaAmigos the other link also did not address why the Oracle environment variable is not there to begin with. How does the variable get entered the first time? –JoJo Oct 2 '13 at 13:24 add a comment| 1 Answer 1 active oldest votes up vote 7 down vote accepted This limitation is based on older Windows restrictions, where length of environmental variables was important. This limitation is still there in the Oracle installation. Work around this:
