It's a 10g Oracle database, and Forms 6i. Database works OK, I've set up TNS names correctly, tnsping works, I can connect using sqlplus and sql developer. I think that Forms is also OK, since it gives me a http://stackoverflow.com/questions/24269787/oracle-forms-app-cannot-connect-to-db-oracle-10g form where the user should input credentials. The problem is Forms users can't connect. That very first form that is being called has line: LOGON('user','pass@TNS', false); this line gives me form_failure, but I don't know what is the problem. Credentials are definitely correct. If I try like this: LOGON('user','pass@TNS', true); then forms gives me an additional generic dialog to login if the former was unsuccessful. That won't let me in also (I've tried a lot of user/pass combos). I also did some debugging (as much as I know in forms developer) but without success. I would appreciate very much any help or something that could point me in right direction. forms oracle login share|improve this question edited Jun 18 '14 at 12:33 Frank Schmitt 18.8k63368 asked Jun 17 '14 at 17:20 Milos Mijatovic 411924 Not familiar with Forms but based on other experience, does LOGON('user@TNS','pass', false); work? It isn't clear if you've tired that already. Either way is there an error stack you're suppressing, or is it going into a log file somewhere? Otherwise it's kind of hard to diagnose. –Alex Poole Jun 17 '14 at

This section discusses the login form and the error page used in this example. The section Specifying a Security Constraint shows how you specify these pages in the deployment descriptor. The login page can be an HTML page, oracle forms a JSP page, or a servlet, and it must return an HTML page containing a form that conforms to specific naming conventions (see the Java Servlet 2.5 specification for more information on these requirements). To do this, include the elements that accept user name and password information between
tags in your login page. The content of an HTML page, JSP page, or servlet for a login page oracle forms logon should be coded as follows: The full code for the login page used in this example can be found at tut-install/javaeetutorial5/examples/web/hello1_formauth/web/logon.jsp. An example of the running login form page is shown later in Figure30–6. Here is the code for this page:Hello, please log in:
The login error page is displayed if the user enters a user name and password combination that is not authorized to access the protected URI. For this example, the login error page can be found at tut-install/javaeetutorial5/examples/web/hello1_formauth/web/logonError.jsp. For this example, the login error page explains the reason for receiving the error page and provides a link that will allow the user to try again. Here is the code for this page:
