name) if executed by root (uid 0). I am trying to run for dbus.SystemBus what I currently run for dbus.SessionBus but get a policy error. The code (python but it doesn't really matter), cleared from everything unnecessary, I run is this: import gobject import dbus import dbus.service from dbus.mainloop.glib import DBusGMainLoop DBusGMainLoop(set_as_default=True) loop = gobject.MainLoop() class dbusService(dbus.service.Object): def __init__(self): bus_name = dbus.service.BusName('org.testobj.service', bus=dbus.SystemBus()) dbus.service.Object.__init__(self, bus_name, '/org/testobj/service') a = dbusService() and get: Traceback (most recent call last): File "

It Suspends fine when done from the command line or the shutdown menu or even by closing the lid. I have set the inactivity timer to 15 minutes using xfce power manager for suspend. However, it never suspends because of inactivity. When I log back in after the failure to suspend, I see this message on the top right: GDBus.Error:org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.AccessDenied: Permission denied http://askubuntu.com/questions/627356/xubuntu-15-04-cannot-suspend-when-inactive I have tried some of the solutions online such as the ones here and here but it didn't make a difference. Anyone has any ideas of things to try. Is there any logs that can tell me what could be wrong. xfce4-power-manager share|improve this question asked May 23 '15 at 14:42 chunno 114 add a comment| 1 Answer 1 active oldest votes up vote 4 down vote It looks like your user is not allowed to suspend the PC when not logged in. Open /usr/share/polkit-1/actions/org.freedesktop.login1.policy with your favorite editor as root and search for entry
