You don't bother us with details of your distro/version but let me guess. You're running ubuntu and you haven't patched it up to now so you've hit a nx-session-launcher bug which you can't patch because the ubuntu FreeNX ppa has vanished. So quick Q?? for you. . . . . . do you actually need ConsoleKit ??? Answer=No I don't want ordinary users mounting CDs/DVDs/USBs or shutting down the machine - edit /etc/nxserver/node.conf and replace COMMAND_START_GNOME="/usr/bin/nx-session-launcher-suid gnome-session" with COMMAND_START_GNOME="gnome-session" and See if it works. Answer=Yes I do want ordinary uses etc. etc. - you will have to update /usr/bin/nx-session-launcher and /etc/dbus-1/system.d/ConsoleKit-NX.conf and recompile /usr/bin/nx-session-launcher-suid from nx-session-launcher-suid.c or get hold of the ubuntu files --=_alternative 004AF645802579C6_= Content-Type: text/html; charset="US-ASCII"

and I keep it up to date frequently.I don't shut down when I update. This is Linux not Windows.- edit /etc/nxserver/node.confand replaceCOMMAND_START_GNOME="/usr/bin/nx-session-launcher-suid gnome-session"withCOMMAND_START_GNOME="gnome-session"andSee if it works.I tried this and it didn't make any difference.I have several up to date Debian wheezy(testing) machines and freenx hasthe same problem on all of them now. Something has changed in one ofthe libraries that freenx uses and I don't know what it is.I am getting my freenx from here:http://ppa.launchpad.net/freenx-team/ubuntu/ karmicI use karmic because that is the last version http://marc.info/?l=freenx-knx&m=133216440208565 that doesn't depend onupstart. Debian does not use upstart and I don't want to installupstart just to use freenx. It has worked fine until recently.Brent c***@ccburton.com 2012-03-27 14:43:07 UTC PermalinkRaw Message Post by Brent S. I use nomachine as my remote server/client, which works very well for me. The problem is that if I'm not logged in locally to the machine, I get errors when the machine tries to automount the ipod, or any external storage device for that matter. I get this error: Cannot mount volume. Error org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.AccessDenied. Details: A security policy in place prevents this sender from sending this message to this recipient, see message bus configuration file (rejected message had interface "org.freedesktop.Hal.Device.Volume" member "Mount" error name "(unset)" destination "org.freedesktop.Hal") I've tried changing the stuff in the policykit to permit non-console users to mount devices, but it doesn't seem to help. I'll happily provide details from any logfile or the output of any command to be able to ge
