I did notice that the thick rubber band-looking roller under the toner cartridge looked rather loose. Could this be the culprit? I took both trays out, and toner, and pushed in the

So if you send a job do you hear the printer even trying to pick up paper? is paper lying flat perfectly in the tray when you open it after a print attempt? any idea what the page count is hp laserjet 4100 paper jam by the way? The pick up rollers in those printers rarly need to be replaced or cause problems. by unknown on Feb 21, 2003 at 1:54pm Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 The printer doesn't even try to pull paper. The rollers/gears on the right hand side (looking inside face)turns maybe 1/2 a turn before the error occurs. by garrett on Feb 21, 2003 at 2:09pm Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 Power off the printer and remove the parallel or network cable so it doesn't try to print. Power on the printer. Does it go ready? If it still shows a paper jam, there are two sensors to check. One is on the back of the fuser, the other is under the registration flap. If it goes ready and only gives a jam when you try to print, remove the tray and clean the little "D" shaped rollers up inside the printer. The "D" rollers are attached to a shaft that has a linkage at the right end. Sometimes that linkage will break. If cleaning the "D" rollers helps, You need to go ahead and replace them. by david belton on Feb 21, 2003 at 3:49pm Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 Thanks everyone, for all your help. I resolved the problem. there was a small, torn piece of paper UNDER the main roller. (the one that resides directly in front of the toner cartridge) couldn't be found without pretty

to A4 and the guides are all in place correctlyAny help would be great - thanks! Respond to this 0 You need hp 4050 paper jam to do some more diagnosing to narrow down the issue. First thing I would do is remove the separation roller in the paper tray and then remove the backfeed clutch which sits behind the roller. http://fixyourownprinter.com/posts/8626 Now put the roller back on even though it is loose and slides around. Now try to pickup from tray 3. If it works and I think it may, you need to remove some of the magnetic filings from the clutch. Real easy to do. Just hit the small shaft of the clutch on a hard surface real hard and the clutch will separate. Now use a cloth to remove http://www.fixyourownprinter.com/posts/35870 about 1/2 of the filing from the shaft. Reassemble, put the clutch on the shaft followed by the separation roller and you should be good to go. If this does not work, then you may have an actual issue with the pickup assembly of the tray 3 unit. To check this you need to look from the rear with a flashlight to see if you can see the 4 half moon rollers turning when you send a print job. If they do not turn, you may have a broken bellhousing which attaches the shaft to the pickup unit. There should also be a spring on one side of the 4 half moon shaft which springs it back to the correct position each time. If that spring has come off that would effect the ability to pickup paper. by dmzcompute on Feb 5, 2006 at 9:08am Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 check if there is any paper stuck in the slot between trays 2 and 3 by Anonymous on Feb 7, 2006 at 10:14am Add comment Please sign in to comment Please sign in to comment HP LaserJet 5100 Buy discount ink Buy this printer More HP questions © Copyright 2011-2016, FixYourOwnPrinter.com, Inc.
