I did notice that the thick rubber band-looking roller under the toner cartridge looked rather loose. Could this be the culprit? I took both trays out, and toner, and pushed in the door sensor,

So if you send a job do you hear the printer even trying to pick up paper? is paper lying flat perfectly in the tray when you open it after a print attempt? any idea what the page count is by the way? 13.1 paper jam open input trays The pick up rollers in those printers rarly need to be replaced or cause problems. by unknown on Feb 21, 2003 at 1:54pm Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 The printer doesn't even try to pull paper. The rollers/gears on the right hand side (looking inside face)turns maybe 1/2 a turn before the error occurs. by garrett on Feb 21, 2003 at 2:09pm Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 Power off the printer and remove the parallel or network cable so it doesn't try to print. Power on the printer. Does it go ready? If it still shows a paper jam, there are two sensors to check. One is on the back of the fuser, the other is under the registration flap. If it goes ready and only gives a jam when you try to print, remove the tray and clean the little "D" shaped rollers up inside the printer. The "D" rollers are attached to a shaft that has a linkage at the right end. Sometimes that linkage will break. If cleaning the "D" rollers helps, You need to go ahead and replace them. by david belton on Feb 21, 2003 at 3:49pm Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 Thanks everyone, for all your help. I resolved the problem. there was a small, torn piece of paper UNDER the main roller. (the one that resides directly in front of the toner cartridge) couldn't be found without pretty much breaking the machine down. This smal

One feed roller is in the cassette tray and the other is right above it in http://fixyourownprinter.com/posts/8626 the printer cavity. The next thing would be to check the paper in the tray. Sometimes when users add paper the bottom sheet curls up between the paper and the front of the machine causing the remaining paper in the tray to not lift properly as the paper supply is removed. If the paper seems fine then turn the machine around and remove the dust cover if it has https://www.marketpoint.com/13-1-paper-jam-error-hp-laserje-4000-4050-4100.aspx one. This allows us, with a flashlight, to watch the pick up assembly as it goes through its process. If while watching you notice that the paper feeds up an inch or two then moves back a half-inch before feeding into the machine all the way we know we probably have a problem with the black torque limiter in the cassette tray. You can replace the limiter (part# RB1-8974) with a new one or pull it apart and remove a little of the metal filings inside the limiter. Don't remove all the filings. Reinstall and watch again from the back. The paper should be moving correctly. Additionally, watch the four half-moon pick up rollers (part# for the 4100 RB1-8957) (part# for the 4000 RB1-8865) and make sure they are only moving when needed and getting back to the home position. There is a spring on the left side of the pick up roller shaft that pulls the pick up shaft to make sure the half-moon rollers are facing up when the machine is not functioning. If you notice that the feed rollers are facing down at a ready state, make sure the spring is attached. On the right side is the drive coupler, which is shaped lik
