Mar 16, 2006 05:38 AM|sjmueller|LINK I have a site that builds and runs perfectly on my development machine. However, when I deploy the site fully precompiled (non updatable) to a Windows Server 2003 machine, I get the error The file '/MasterPage.master' does not exist. If i publish the site as updateable, this error doesnt occur. Lots of other people are having this problem, does anyone have a solution? Reply mychucky Member 269 Points 3813 Posts Re: The file '/MasterPage.master' does not exist. May 18, 2006 10:04 AM|mychucky|LINK I have this exact error too. Still searching for a solution. May 20, 2006 07:07 AM|Wardy|LINK Nice to know im not the only one ... its not an internal server by any chance is it ?? error code 500 ?? if i pull up the asp error from the framework i get a " Could not load type localhost.Folder._Default " error. bug in the framework perhaps ? something to do with paths i feel ... perhaps localhost on my machine isnt localhost on the remote machine (paths are different) so its saying it cant find the stuff it needs (the dynamic link library) i dunno ?? May 31, 2006 07:25 AM|Wardy|LINK ok try this guys ... is the directory giving the error controlled by a web.config file by any chance ?? (just curious) Copy the bin folder from the root directory of the applicaton to any sub directory giving the error be sure you copy the compiled class library within it. Other things that could be wrong for you guys (ive now solved my problem using the above)
