I am using CreateTextFile and if the file http://stackoverflow.com/questions/369242/vbscript-fso-opentextfile-permission-denied doesn't already exist, it creates it OK. If it does exist I can delete it using FSO.DeleteFile and it gets deleted but then the CreateTextFile fails with permission denied. What's really bugging me is I had this working for a while and now I can't get around it. Any clues? Also, you might want to consider using "Kill" rather than 'deleteFile' Be nice to Harley riders... Start = Timer ' Set start time. Do While Timer < Start + PauseTime DoEvents ' Yield to other processes. Loop Finish = Timer ' Set end time. TotalTime = Finish - Start ' Calculate total time. MsgBox "Paused for " & TotalTime & " seconds" Else End End If I tried it at 5 seconds and then at 10 seconds. I still get permission denied if the file existed. I have a filList that has that file in it. I thought maybe that was causing the problem but I even stripped that code & the box out and I still fail. I'm stumped. Please help. joshymraj, Aug 8, 2007 IP yugolancer Peon Messages: 312 Likes Received: 7 Best Answers: 0 Trophy Points: 0 #2 Next time send entire error/exception message. However i'll try to guess that maybe test.txt already exists on that location so you need to set up the overwrite argument to true: set objFile=objFSO.CreateTextFile("test.txt", True) Code (markup): Otherwise set the permissions. You must give createtextfile permission denied the rights to write to the directory as by default it's always only "read + scripts allowed". Sometimes this doesn't work either, if you are trying to create a file on server. You have to make sure you have "Users" on the admin list. Allow Users Write permission on the folder same way like above. webcosmo, Aug 13, 2007 IP shafferb1 Peon Messages: 42 Likes Received: 0 Best Answers: 0 Trophy Points: 0 #4 You may want to change the file name that it creates. If this is still a problem then it is a permission issue and you should ask your host how to change permissions. You may be able to do it via your FTP client. shafferb1, Aug 14, 2007 IP MayurGondaliya Well-Known Member Messages: 1,225 Likes Received: 38 Best Answers: 0 Trophy Points: 120 #5 May the directory in which you are trying to created file does not have the write permission.
