17:34 Posts: 1 First name: Cary Last name: Roberts I have created a new user and it's own folder. I can access the site through FileZilla but when I try to move any documents over to the remote site (server) it gives me the 550 Permission denied

Did you upload a file via FTP that you can't download using HTTP? –Jan Sep 2 '14 at 17:28 add a comment| 1 Answer 1 active oldest votes up vote 1 down vote accepted Exactly the same thing happened to me after upgrading from Precise Pangolin to Trusty Tahr. I investigated and it looks like /etc/vsftpd.conf, the FTP configuration file, was one of the configuration files amended during the upgrade. Specifically, this line: write_enable=YES which I had previously uncommented was now commented again. I uncommented it, restarted the FTP server (sudo restart vsftpd) and suddenly I could upload and amend file permissions again. share|improve this answer edit
