I am also getting this error periodically: Code: Could not save master table. I started having these problems after running the command Code: gksudo eclipse so I could update Eclipse (via Software updates in the help menu). Is there any easy way to fix this at all? Even after reinstalling via Synaptic I'm still getting the same errors. Try deleting the Eclipse configuration files in your home directory; they are in

I used the Java program to send the command chmod 777 /path/to/ffmpeg, but when I try to run ffmpeg, I get the following error: java.io.IOException: Cannot run program "/Users/james/WalkTheHall/ffmpeg": error=13, Permission denied But when I run chmod 777 /path/to/ffmpeg from Terminal on my own before opening the Java application, the http://stackoverflow.com/questions/3085897/permission-denied-error-in-java-for-chmod-command command to ffmpeg will run just fine in the Java program. Is there a difference between calling chmod from within the Java program and calling it on my own? Why will it not work? Thank you! java permissions share|improve this question edited Jul 19 '13 at 23:30 Raedwald 17.5k1264104 asked Jun 21 '10 at 15:15 James Skidmore 19k2684126 maybe you are running the java executable with a user who hasn't got the privileges to chmod that file –Silvio Donnini Jun 21 '10 at 15:18 Details... I don't know on Mac, but on GNU/Linux as common user you could not do chmod 777 (some permissions are "masked"), so is it possible when you try from terminal you are indeed the kind of user that can do such a thing, while you run the java as an user that can't? (it is also possible that the java vm drops privilegies when running as "power" users, just to enhance security) –ShinTakezou Jun 21 '10 at 15:24 add a comment| 5 Answers 5 active oldest votes up vote 4 down vote accepted I'd guess that chmod is a shell command, not an executable. Try running chmod through your shell. See more details here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1410741/want-to-invoke-a-linux-shell-command-from-java share|improve this

I checked out a project from subversion and put it in my workspace. When I try to run Main.CPP (it's a C++ project -- not java), I get the following error message: Exception occurred executing command line. Cannot run program "/home/abramhandler/workspace/tux/main.cpp" (in directory "/home/abramhandler/workspace/tux"): java.io.IOException: error=13, Permission denied How can I give Eclipse permission to run things in this folder? permissions 13 permission denied eclipse share|improve this question asked Sep 30 '13 at 21:38 bernie2436 153110 add a comment| 1 Answer 1 active oldest votes up vote 0 down vote accepted There is no need to give Eclipse permission to run things in that folder; it already has that permission. The Permission denied error is due to the shell refusing to execute main.cpp because the file doesn't have its execute permission bits set. Which makes sense because you don't execute cpp files. share|improve this answer answered Sep 30 '13 at 23:04 zwets 5,63611331 great. that explains a lot. I am new to C++ development in eclipse. Now I know that I made a mistake in the build configurations. –bernie2436 Sep 30 '13 at 23:08 add a comment| Your Answer draft saved draft discarded Sign up or log in Sign up using Google Sign up using Facebook Sign up using Email and Password Post as a guest Name Email Post as a guest Name Email discard By posting your answer, you agree to the privacy policy and terms of service.
