GB room (150 GB, which is more than ample for my needs), there are no other devices connected (no fax/printer/scanner), and it'd be a complete roll-over with no partition required. Sounds simple, but not if I can't get the CD/thumb to plug-and-play properly. So, to my mind, the answer obviously lies in the software that's already on the computer, or rather, isn't on the computer. The message that appears when I attempt to install anything is "Error Autrorunning Software: debian virtualbox guest additions permission denied Cannot find the autorun program." I've even tried a very old OS with the same message. Now, to the best of my recollection, the computer worked wonderfully in the past. The only issue is that there have been so many technological advances in the interim that I'd like to catch up and keep up by upgrading to a supported OS. Needless to say, it's been a while since I've enjoyed the freedom and challenge of Linux, and I'll be the first to admit I'm feeling a little lost here, so go gently and slowly. Not truly a noob, but feeling like one trying to wrap my noodle around this issue. Sincere appreciation in advance, Mrs. M Applications Print This Like (0 likes) saqman2060 | July 21, 2014 I have never heard of an Autorun issue on linux. You won't find many open... I have never heard of an Autorun issue on linux. You won't find many open source programs with an "autorun" script associated with it. As for the upgrade. The path that you must take is a long one. There is no guarantee that the in-between ubuntu OSes still exist. Your best route is to back up your data an do a clean install of the latest version of ubuntu.
