I am getting an error opening the local file and Permission denied. These commands however work fine from the server hosting the ftp, and from any external computer not on the network. I just cannot get this to work from a computer on the network. All firewall settings have been opened for Filezilla, FTP connections, passive FTP connections, and for all file transfers. I am finding that ftp.exe is hanging and locking the local file I am trying to write to. My issue is as follows. I've set the owner http://askubuntu.com/questions/410947/permission-denied-in-ftp-even-though-im-the-owner of /var/www to myuser:www-data and permissions of the folder and all (currently just the basic index.html) it's content to 750, and Apache seems to run it as supposed, but I can't access it when I FTP into the server as the myuser user. I mean, I can access it, but as soon as I try to edit, delete or add something I just get 500 Permission denied, and if I try to edit the permissions I get 500 Unknown SITE command. Help! What do I do wrong? The idea on setting the user and group, and then the permissions as above was from a good friend of mine who is sort of an expert, but I feel like I'm bothering him when I ask so many questions, so if you can help me some more, that would be great! I'm trying to put a backup with 4 vhosts back into the www-folder, but what I put there shouldn't be of any concern, right? That's just the confing of the vhosting later that has got anything to do with that, right? Thanks in advance! Added info: I ran this: myuser@myserver:/$ groups myuser And got this: myuser : my

Quota is set at unlimited and the IP address is correct but I keep getting this error - Cannot Open File : Permission Denied. The files are on my machine so not sure why FileZilla can't open. Any help would be great! Could be b0rked permissions, or a file still open by another process. The latter is a server problem, the server cannot open the file (for writing) ftp permission denied on its file system. So that would require fixing by the server administrator; you'd have to contact their support. _________________### BEGIN SIGNATURE BLOCK ###No support requests per PM! So if it's b0rked permissions how do I correct that? The webmaster I got the files from is not a helpful person so if I can fix myself and avoid him that would be great! In any case you need local Administrator privileges/root access. In *NIX like OS, use the CHOWN and CHMOD commands. In Windows, either the GUI Security tab or the cacls/icacls command in the command line. _________________### BEGIN SIGNATURE BLOCK ###No support requests per PM!
