other page. For instance I type the URL in the adress line and let IE load the page. Then I click on a button so the script should start loading JSON data. (The script providing the data lies on the same server and I access it with a relative URL, so using a different domain is not the problem here. Even tried to use a absolute URL with the same host part.) But when I refresh the page then and try it again it works! Same thing when I come to that page from another page. At first nothing works, but when I click "refresh" everything is fine. IE gives me the error message "Permission denied" while in every other browser I don't notice this behaviour. Since I have tried many things and still cannot imagine where the problem lies I'd like to ask you what you think the problem might be? edit: A small example: test.html

I need to make a few AJAX calls to REST services to get data. The following Javascript is my code. jQuery.support.cors = true; $.ajax({ type: "GET", data: "{}", https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/51d40521-c820-4132-a02f-fe7ee36c4a97/permission-denied-when-making-an-ajax-call-to-a-rest-service?forum=appsforoffice url: "http://.../v1/customers/.../accounts", contentType: "application/json", dataType: "json", crossDomain: true, success: function () { $("#message5").append("| call success"); }, error: function (jqxhr, textStatus, error) { var err = textStatus + ", " + error; $( "#message5" ).append( "| Request Failed: " + err ); }, complete: function () { $("#message5").append("| call complete"); }, beforeSend: setHeader }); function setHeader(xhr) { xhr.setRequestHeader('Authorization', 'Bearer 518887b3- ...'); } The above Javascript and HTML5 in IE10 run successfully in IE 10. Using HTT Debugger, I can see the HTTP GET call is made successfully. On the server side, I can also see the GET request. However, if I run the App which has the same HTML5 and Javascr

Note: I'm using the development version of r2d3.js The error doesn't occur if I use d3.json() on a local resource. Owner mhemesath commented Oct 9, 2013 Ok, thanks. I'll permission denied javascript try to look into this. In the meantime, I'd fallback to something like jQuery if you have it in your env. clint-tseng commented Oct 9, 2013 I'm unclear on what you expect the behavior to be — IE8 does not support CORS. I think jQuery falls back to JSONP, but that will only work if the server also supports JSONP. Is that the expectation? Owner mhemesath commented Oct 9, 2013 jQuery auto handles JSONP for you. See http://api.jquery.com/jQuery.ajax/ monsieurBelbo commented Oct 9, 2013 I would expect the d3.json() call falls back to JSONP if CORS is not supported.
