However, I seem to be unable to have the bit torrent actually save files into this folder due to the permissions I've set.Every time I try to http://www.nas4free.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=5167 feed the web interface a torrent file, I get an error: Permission denied (/mnt/vdisk1/torrents/downloads/torrentname).I tried:setfacl -m g:transmission:rwxpaARWcCos:allow /mnt/vdisk1/torrents/downloads/getfacl outputs:# file: downloads/# owner: root# group: wheelgroup:transmission:rwxp--aARWcCos:------:allow owner@:rwxp--aARWcCos:------:allow group@:rwxp--a-R-c--s:------:allow everyone@:------a-R-c--s:------:allowls -ltotal 15drwxrwx---+ 4 root wheel 11 Aug 21 23:36 downloadsAnybody have an idea on what I need to do here to get transmission to be able to write to this folder? Giving 'other' read/write permissions is not an option in this case.Addendum:Tried changing owner from brandon/admin to root/wheel then to transmission/wheel. No luck with any of the above. Are you using the same account that is running torrent to create the directories ? Remember to check the box on the GUI setup for running torrent under a separate account then specify that account. This account should be in the transmission group and not much else. Be careful with torrents. A while back I h

For example... I can save in: /nmt/1-500gb/Tv/dexter but i can not save in /nmt/4-1000gb/tv/Lost When i try to save in the lost folder I get a permission denied error in the Web interface. But when I try to save the same torrent file in the error permission denied dexter folder everything works fine... This is probably an easy thing to fix, but I'm new to Freenas. The user name for Transmission is TorrentUser if that helps. Now I find out that I can not browse the disk in Quixplorer.. I can browse nmt/4-1000gb/ but not /nmt/1-500gb When I try to browse the nmt/4-1000gb/ I get Unable to read directory $ mount /dev/md0 on / (ufs, local) devfs on /dev (devfs, local) procfs on /proc (procfs, local) /dev/fuse1 on /mnt/5 - 500gb (fusefs, local, synchronous) /dev/fuse2 on /mnt/2 - 1000gb (fusefs, local, synchronous) /dev/fuse3 on /mnt/3 - 1000gb (fusefs, local, synchronous) /dev/fuse4 on /mnt/4 - 1000gb (fusefs, local, synchronous) /dev/fuse5 on /mnt/320GB - USB (fusefs, local, synchronous) /dev/md1 on /var (ufs, local) /dev/da0a on /cf (ufs, local, read-only) /dev/fuse0 on /mnt/1 - 500gb (fusefs, local, synchronous) Dont work : 1 - 500gb 2 - 1000gb 3 - 1000gb Works: 320GB - USB 4 - 1000gb 5 - 500gb And this 3 disk is the same disks that I can save my torrents to. started getting Permission Denied errors when saving new torrents jamesisinJanuary 17th, 2010, 12:08 AMTransmission has started giving me errors when I download a new torrent file. It has stopped being able to create the new file (ie touch) to begin the download. Error: Permission denied (/path/to/specific/file/in/new.torrent) Old torrents are still running to the same drive location. No permissions have changed. What's going on? jamesisinJanuary 17th, 2010, 02:34 AMOk, I have some more information to report. My torrents download into a drive we'll call TD (for torrent downloads) which is mounted in /media: /media/TD I have Transmissions set to save in that location (via its preferences). I can manually set the location for any of these new torrents and I get the same error message. I have tried /media/[different hdd] and ~/Music. The interesting thing about the error is the location in the path. The path in the error shows /media/[name of torrent folder] which is clearly wrong. Also if I open the properties of the torrent on the Information tab under Location: I see /media. Also wrong. I have also tried unmounting and remounting the drives, changing the location, restarting Transmission, and rebooting. All to no avail. What is Transmission doing? jamesisinJanuary 17th, 2010, 02:40 AMI had a vision... I changed location but told Tm that the files were already there and this actually changed the location. Once that was taken care of starting the torrent running again did not get the error. Strictly speaking, the files were not already there as they did not yet exist, but it solves the problem so it's good enough for me. Hope that helps someone else. happysamJanuary 18th, 2010, 02:16 PMHad the same problem after recent update: current version Transmission 1.75 (9117) the torrents properties had
