(I tried on TPB and it didn't ask me to save the .torrent file Pop-up appears -> select download location to be a folder that is on PC (not on that disconnected extHDD). I selected drwx------+ 19 amar staff 646 Nov 1 04:52 Downloads That's the default permission https://trac.transmissionbt.com/ticket/5114 and "amar" is only user on pc (admin) Download starts, few MBs downloaded. (It automatically took the magnet link and later on the magnet icon changed to folder icon). After some time I get "Permission denied:path/to/selected/folder/in/step/2" error. Clicking on retry icon doesn't work. I couldn't find .torrent file, maybe because of magnet link. Moving file doesn't work either. Then it suddenly crashed. Restarted. Didn't download even now. Workaround First removed/deselected those default folders (*Precondition) in Preferences and changed default location to "Downloads" (*Step 2 above) On pop-up location was selected to be Downloads folder. Crashes sometimes. (restart if crashed) File downloaded like a charm. Perhaps I accidentally started it in sudo mode? Regardless, this is not a fatal bug, but I think it is a sign of a deeper problem. sledgehammer999 commented Oct 19, 2014 You forgot to mention qbt version and OS. After you deleted it, when you restart qbt does it reappear in the list? -be sure to select the "All" filter from the left side- v6 commented Oct 20, 2014 qbittorrent --version qBittorrent v3.1.8 uname -a Linux myhostname 3.13.0-37-generic #64-Ubuntu SMP Mon Sep 22 21:28:38 UTC 2014 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux I have tried all the basic ideas, but I have not deleted my configuration files. I have also not reinstalled the program. sledgehammer999 commented Oct 23, 2014 @v6 ping. You haven't answered my other question. v6 commented Oct 23, 2014 I have tried all the basic ideas. After I deleted it, when I restarted qbt, it reappeared in the list. -I was sure to select the "All" filter from the left side- sledgehammer999 commented Oct 23, 2014 Then somehow you have borked its write access permissions. 1. Note down its infohash 2. Delete it as usual from the GUI. 3. Exit qbt (wait for it to disappear from the process list) 4. Locate a folder named "BT_backup". (search your home dir) 5. Delete the files named .torrent and .fastresume. (you can inspect the permissions before you do that just so you know). Now if you start qbt the torrent will not reappear in your list. Do you confirm? v6 commented Oct 23, 2014 // , I am at work, at the moment. I am not getting the error at all, but I suspect that it's because encrypted traffic like BIttorrent is blocked. Either that, or the problem has magically disappeared. I'll respond when I get back from work. v6 commented Apr 14, 2015 // , The error continues to occur. Usually it will repeat for about five minutes after the torrent has been paused, or the resource it's complaining about has been freed. chrishirst commented Apr 15, 2015 qBittorrent v3.1.8
