Windows 7: Can't print: just says "Error - Printing" in queue Page printer spooler fix windows xp sp3 1 of 2 1 2 > 09 Feb 2011 #1 parrotx34 Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit 9 posts Can't print: just says "Error - Printing" in queue This is a new laptop, Windows https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/instantanswers/bdff0c68-6204-6025-dcc1-3aefaa14ab40/fix-printer-problems 7 Home Premium 64 bit, and I have installed drivers for both my HP Laserjet CP1215 and Canon MP150 (and re-installed quite a few times now too...). Whenever I try and print a document, from WordPad, Adobe Reader, Word, whatever, it just appears in the print queue with the Status as "Error - Printing". If I run the HP diagnostics utility, it can print test pages, no problem. So the USB connection and actual http://www.sevenforums.com/hardware-devices/143459-cant-print-just-says-error-printing-queue.html printer are fine. They also work fine with other PCs. I've checked the print spooler is up and running in "Services". Exactly the same problem happens with both HP and Canon printers (both are USB). Anyone please help! It simply says "error", with no description. Killing and restarting the spooler will not help, but rebooting will. There is nothing in the system event logs, nor does the print spooler printer spooler fix window provide any details other than "error" My question is, when this does occur, is there any way to find out what is causing it to get stuck, so that I can "unstuck" it instead of rebooting? windows-xp troubleshooting printer hp-laserjet print-spooler share|improve this question edited Jan 29 '13 at 4:57 bwDraco 26.2k24101140 asked Mar 26 '10 at 13:00 lavinio 479714 You've done what I would have tried first: you stopped and re-started the print spooler. It didn't help. -- Next thing I would try: disable and re-enable the parallel port in device manager. I don't know if you also tried. (I don't know about parallel printing. But my notebook [Dell Latitude D620] does not like to use the USB ports any more after suspending and re-activating. Here it helps to do the 'disable and re-enable USB port' in device manager and helps me saving a complete re-boot cycle.) –Kurt Pfeifle Jul 31 '10 at 17:50 1 Please understand - this question isn't about fixing it but about trying to find out if it logs anywhere an explanation of the error. It says "error" (and nothing else) in the spooler, so I assume somewhere it should tell me what kind of error. –lavinio Aug 1 '10 at 4:05 add a comment| 2 Answers 2 active oldest votes up vote 0 down vote accepted What sequence do you use when powering on and using the
