Folder has documents. A folder that has documents can not be removed. Remove documents first. User was unable to delete a folder that contained more than one version of a file. Solution Go into Tools - Options, then click on the settings tab and expand document list, make sure "show all versions" is enabled. Once we did this and were able to see our versions, we were able to delete the folder that contains files with several versions. Files ... Cancel Answer Suggested Error 41 "Directory not empty" We are seeing an increasing number of Error 41 incidents, where users are unable to delete a folder because there is an orphan file in the storage folder. http://communities.bentley.com/products/projectwise/content_management/f/342986/t/119852 see communities.bentley.com/.../8242.error-41-when-deleting-folder Does anyone have any information on how these files get orphaned, and is there anything we can do to prevent it? The files seem to be ones that belonged to a document that was deleted but get left behind without PW realising that there was an error in the delete process. First add the dms Folder id to your view in ProjectWise Explorer. To do so Select View/Manage Views/ and click the New button. Give your personal view a name, then expand the folder column section and add Folder Id to the view you are creating. Once you can see the folder projectwise error 41 id number this value represents the actual storage location of your files in this folder. So for example 52233 represents dms52233 as a actual folder on the storage server. If you can not see the value just drop a notepad file in the folder you cannot delete. This will present the value to you. You can easily supply this folder id number to your PW Administrators and have them delete the orphaned files in this folder on the physical storage area. Then you should be able to delete the folder with no problem. It seems to be a known issue, but one that Bentley is not keen to advertise. regards René Cancel aaparker Tue, Jul 19 2016 10:20 AM In reply to Rene Lloyd: Rene, It is a difficult problem to diagnose without looking at your ProjectWise instance directly and to be honest by the time the issue has occurred it could be years or month
