A friend of mine recently bought a 1GB Sandisk SD card for his digital camera. When he put the card (with photos on it) into a card reader to http://www.techrepublic.com/forums/discussions/sandisk-sd-card-i-o-error/ view on his PC, a few photos appeared on screen briefly then dissapeared. Now when the SD card is put in the card reader (or a different reader built in to a laptop) the pc is unable to view any photos on it.An "I/O error" message is displayedThe camera can't access it either. We tried using "O&O disk recovery" program to rescue the photos, but this program didn't even recognise the SD card at all.Would be very grateful if anyone has some advice on either how to rescue the photos, fix the card or what might have caused the problem in the first place? My camera records video in MOV format. I am now attempting to copy the files onto my harddrive. All recorded sd card videos are appearing when exploring the card's contents, but one of them (860 Mb large) won't copy. Actually, it copies fine until the last 5 seconds, then I am given an i/o error by Windows. What is the best software (free or to buy don't matter) that gives me the best chances of rescueing this file? You might lose a little bit of the video, but the remainder should be fine. Share krs000a August 19, 2013 12:23:54 AM Hi, thanks for your suggestion, but I tried xcopy /c in the command line and it still won't copy due to an i/o error. Any other way to force copy it? Why am I getting this i/o error to start with? I thought spending the extra $ on a Sandisk card instead of some 3rd party unit would ensure me a good card but apparently everything is junk these days. Please any more suggestions are greatly appriciated, I really need this file, even if part of it will contain errors, I just need it copied off of the card.
