When http://libguides.ncl.ac.uk/c.php?g=130141&p=851152 I was trying to compile a list of references in my Word document using the "J Marketing" style, I encountered an error message: "Service Error: Generic". After troubleshooting for a while to no avail, I finally stumbled service error across the cause of the error: a report-type reference in my database. When I changed the record type, it no longer caused error. I tried the same report-type reference with other styles and did not encounter any problem. It appears that this generic service error caused by report-type references is specific to the J Marketing style. For a quick workaround, I recommend simply naming your record type to something other than a report, service error generic such as a book. As an additional note, this same error does not apply to the Mac version of EndNote. Share this:RedditLike this:Like Loading... One Response to "EndNote Generic ServiceError" Jen said May 13, 2010 at 7:37 pm I would like to make another point about the "Service Error: Generic" fail in Endnote. I am a mac user on X2 and had a complete fail which was not fixed by any of the useful tricks (reformatting libraries, styles, getting updates etc) available on the Endnote website for this error type. Eventually I narrowed the problem down to one corrupted reference (a non-reference that was inside reference-style curly brackets) by formatting the document section by section. I hope this saves someone out there some time and stress! Cheers Jen Reply Leave a Reply Cancel reply Enter your comment here...
