I go to manual, click start, and it says 'could not start automatic update service on local computer. Error 1058: The service cannot be service error started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated with it'. Now when I go to auto updates in control panel, it is set on automatic, however it doesn't do it.... Help? I'm on windows xp home edition. I ended up having to download the SuperAntiSpyware. It worked like you said. I got my automatic update going and so far no new windows are opening up in my browser. Previous to finding your site I tried AVG and Lavasoft's Ad-ware to no avail. Thanks and God bless!! chris
