Advertisement -GSS- Thread Starter Joined: Aug 18, 2005 Messages: 15 windows firewall service error 1068 I recently toughened the security on my machine, which led to this problem. I'm using XP Home Edition with SP1 and various hotfixes (the problems don't lie here as these updates haven't disturbed anything). I heard about this forum from another website and am now posting here. But why is this? I use Sygate firewall and Avast! anti virus, and I've also got XP-Antispy, xplizer and safexp. I know it's stupid to have all those apps (other then the av/firewall), as they all do basically the same thing and conflict. I looked through all of these apps for any fast user switching-related options and I couldn't find anything of relation, so I can't see a solution here even though these apps are to make XP secure (fast user switching being a security issue). Reverting back to the default settings of these apps is of no use, either. When I go to control panel > user accounts > how users logon, I see that the fast user switching option is disabled. Fair enough, I enable it (checkbox). But when I go back to view that screen where that option is, the option is disabled. I'm adament the problem and thus solution lies somewhere with these programs as the problem started after these programs were installed and working fine. But the problem didn't start straight away since I installed these applications (a while ago). What else could it be? Nothing of help in TuneUp utilities 2004, either. Would sysrestore save me here? I currently have it detailed. P.S. does anyone know of any good apps that allow me to password protect as many folders as I like on XP? So everytime I access that folder, a PW is asked for (might make a seperate thread for this). System restore could help. mike5532g, Aug 18, 2005 #2 -GSS- Thread Starter Joined: Aug 18, 2005 Messages: 15 mike55
