If so, plesae goto the driver or folder, change the compress option by Properties -> Advanced and unticked the “Compress contents to save disk space” checkbox. After above things, you should be able to start the service again. share|improve this answer answered Sep 25 '13 at 3:12 gino 6912 add a comment| up vote 2 down vote In my particular case, I fixed this error by looking in the Ev

How to fix error3417 August 25, 2008 by decoding It all started when I performed a Windows XP repair installation, on a developer machine, at work. Although the SQL Server Browser service was working fine, the SQL Server service could not be started. I have been https://decoding.wordpress.com/2008/08/25/sql-server-2005-expess-how-to-fix-error-3417/ getting the error 3417 (SQL Server service terminated with service-specific error 3417…). There was also a reference to the mastlog.ldf file, which is the Master's database log file. The database files usually reside on a folder like "C:\Program Files\Microsoft http://www.sqlrecoverysoftware.net/blog/sql-error-3417.html SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\Data". Therefore I checked that the master.mdf and mastlog.ldf were present. I did a quick search on Google, and not surprisingly, other people had the same problem. One of the suggested solutions did work, and it was easier than sql server expected. All I had to do, was to add on the "Data" folder (mentioned above) security/permission settings, the "NETWORK SERVICE" account. Share:TwitterFacebookEmailLike this:Like Loading... MDF / LDF. In my case the SQL server service would not start. I copied in the master database from another machine. (The log suggested restoring from a backup). We are running SQL Express on a number of client machines. After - I was able to refresh our database and it was good to go. on December 24, 2008 at 14:54 | Reply Alex For solve this error try-fix mdf,it is free as far as i know and has many possibilities, application repair data from corrupted databases in the MS SQL Server format (files with the *.mdf extension),supports data extraction via the local area network, can save recovered data as SQL scripts, it is also possible to split data into files of any size, compatible with all supported versions of Microsoft Windows, such as Windows 98, Windows Me, Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows XP SP2, Windows 2003 Server, Windows Vista, tool supports the following database formats: Microsoft SQL Server 7.0, 2000, 2005,also can repair .mdf files of Microsoft SQL Server 2005, repair mdf file of Microsoft SQL Server 2005 (64-bit). on January 6, 2011 at 12:14 | Reply Ajit sql server2008 r2 error 3417 any idea on August 20, 2009 at 13:38 | Reply toobad Unfortunately the fix mdf is not free.
