I was unable to add a new login for a local windows user on a local sql server just because of case. The Sql Server management studio process would always give my user login like this : AMITY\Dave. In fact, the right case is Amity\Dave.By executing sp_grantlogin "Amity\Dave" it worked fine.Bad GUI tools don't ease the use at all.DavidReply Alice April 30, 2009 12:51 amHi Pinal,I got this err when I tried to manually change the Window group name after the physical server got renamed. After renaming the server, I use sp_dropserver and sp_addserver to bring SQL in sync with the new server name. Then I restart SQL Server. Everything seems to work fine. However, under Security -> Logins there are 3 groups that are prefixed by the old server name and also contain the old server name within their name (for example: oldservername\SQLServer2005SQLAgentUser$oldservername$MSSQLSERVER)Can you please advise how to fix it?I found out lots of useful information from your website. Thank you very much for your help!AliceReply Charlie September 24, 2013 7:11 amHi Alice,I encountered the same as yours. Then I right clicked on the name and click on rename. It seems working fine.Best Regards, CharlieReply Sunil June 24, 2009 1:18 amHi, I am a new SQL server 2008 user. I like to add another user to existing window user service account in sql server 200

Due to this, each user that is to access the application needs their own user creating against the SQL instance that the applications database is on, so that the user can then be assigned individual permissions within the application. I am reading the list of users from the Active Directory group we have designated using the following; exec master..xp_logininfo 'domain\groupname', 'members' This returns output similar to the following; account name type privilege mapped login name permission path DOMAIN\USER user user DOMAIN\USER DOMAIN\GROUPNAME For the most part, the users returned in this list can be created on the SQL instance without any drama. I am creating the users as SQL accounts using sp_grantlogin in the first instance, before moving on to allow each new login access to the application database. However, a handful of users are being reported as not existing. I get the f

This enables IIS to connect to the SQL Server instance.I tried it in my instance of Sql Server Management Studio 2012 and I receive this error:quote:Msg 15401, Level 16, State 1, Line 1Windows NT user group 'NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE' not found. Check the name again.I already installed WCF on Windows and registered aspnet, using the command prompt with Administrator privileges. What could I be doing wrong here? Thanks in advance for your time-------Rafael Soteldo Edited by - rafael.soteldo on 02/11/2014 09:11:48 ahmeds08 Aged Yak Warrior India 737 Posts Posted-02/12/2014: 07:32:27 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/324321/en-usJaveed Ahmed Edited by - ahmeds08 on 02/12/2014 07:35:01 rafael.soteldo Starting Member 36 Posts Posted-02/12/2014: 07:45:18 quote:Originally posted by ahmeds08http://support.microsoft.com/kb/32
