This is causing the job that runs during this time to run 35-50 minutes instead of the 5-8 minutes it runs when the error does not happen. Here is the error message:Process 139:0 (17ec) UMS Context 0x0D2E5BE8 http://www.sqlteam.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=59039 appears to be non-yielding on Scheduler 4.Error: 17883, Severity: 1, State: 0The error repeats several times, usually about 1 minute apart.I looked in the Microsoft Knowledgebase, and it appears this error was fixed in SP4, but obviously, it's still happening. Anyone still getting 17883 on SP4?" bakerjon Posting Yak Master USA 145 Posts Posted-12/15/2005: 09:49:34 There are still some of these in SP4. Look at your MSSQL\LOG directory. You will likely see a .DMP or a .MDMP file. This is a mini-dump or full dump of the memory stack. You will want to send this off to Microsoft Support. In my experience, they will tell you that your query is the issue, and suggest that you tune your query, but after spending a lot of time on the phone, they agreed that it was a bug in the product. The scheduler, while it is co-operative, it should relinquish resources eventually, which it didn't do here.HTHJon-Like a kidney stone, this too shall pass.http://www.sqljunkies.com/weblog/outerjoin paulrandal Yak with Vast SQL Skills USA 899 Posts Posted-12/15/2005: 19:47:58 Do you know the name/email of the person that argued with you? 17883s are nearly always scheduling/yielding bugs in SQL Server, regardless of what you're doing

This occurs when ever I back sql server up a 7 GB database. I have changed the time of the backups to a time that the server is used the least. There are seven other database on the server and this is the only one that this happens on. We added sp4 two weeks ago and it did not resolve the issue.About the Server: Dell 2650 2 processor. 4 GB of mem. Wanted to know if anyone else is having the same problem after sql server 2000 SP4?Thank you for your time. Stacey W. A. ( Sounded better in my head as Inspector Clouseau then written down.) Anyway, here is what I found. As stated befor the problem occured when ever the backup ran no matter what time i changed it too. I ran all of the DBCC on the database and found nothing. I restored the database to another server and ran the backups and no error.A light went on and I created a new scheduled backup and ran it... No errors. For some reason the olser scheduled job caused the errors while the new one does not. Not sure why but I know that all is working now!Have a great day. I am off to a 2 hour meeting and betting on which coworkers head hits the table first! I am taking Scott he a sure bet! Stacey W. A.
