When you perform abackup use CHECKSUM option and then before restoring run the following RESTORE restore verifyonly command in sql server VERIFYONLY FROM DISK = 'path\backupfile.BAK' there is no easy fix for this error without possibility of some data loss, if database is still online and working fine perform another backup with checksum. So, I'm assuming the error is encountered when the integrity is checked. The database is still online and working fine, though with some performance problems. I've just run a full "copy-only" backupwith the CHECKSUM option turned on, and that ran successfully: 10 percent processed. 20 percent processed. 30 percent processed. 40 percent processed. 50 percent processed. 60 percent processed. 70 percent processed. 80 percent processed. 90 percent processed. The restore process has worked countless https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/sqlserver/en-US/21ff3efe-a826-44fe-b091-fc23f641a927/error-3183-severity-16-state-1-restore-detected-an-error-on-page?forum=sqldisasterrecovery times before, but this morning I received the error below:RESTORE detected an error on page (0:0) in database "database_name" as read from the backup set.Error: 3183, Severity: 16, State: 1.I tried a second backup file from the day before but received the same result. I ran a RESTORE VERIFYONLY on both backup files through the 2008 R2 instance and after about 10 minutes (backup file is ~100GB) received the http://www.sqlservercentral.com/Forums/Topic1279635-266-1.aspx following errors from both:Msg 3189, Level 16, State 1, Line 1Damage to the backup set was detected.Msg 3013, Level 16, State 1, Line 1VERIFY DATABASE is terminating abnormally.CHECKDB ran clean last weekend and no I/O errors were found in the error log on 2005.At present I am re-copying the latest backup file to the 2008 R2 server thinking it could have been a corruption when copying the file around the network...however I have little hope that is the issue since I get the same result from both backups taken on consecutive nights.Any insight into what might be going on? __________________________________________________________________________________________________There are no special teachers of virtue, because virtue is taught by the whole community. --Plato Post #1279635 Lynn PettisLynn Pettis Posted Friday, April 6, 2012 12:59 PM SSC-Insane Group: General Forum Members Last Login: Yesterday @ 4:13 PM Points: 23,397, Visits: 37,426 Have you run the RESTORE VERIFYONLY on the files on your SQL Server 2005 system? When was the last time you ran checkdb? The .bak file is 100gb. I need to restore this database on a different server, to a new database. So, command is like this: Restore Database [newname] FROM DISK= N'D:\mydatabase.bak' WITH FILE = 1 MOVE 'mydatabasename' TO 'C:\mydatabase.mdf' MOVE 'Partition1' TO detected an error 'C:\`mydatabase_1.ndf' etc.. STATS = 1 After 52 percent processed, I get this error: Msg 3183, Level 16, State 2, Line 1 RESTORE detected an error on page (8481:555819297) in database "dbname" as read from the backup set. Msg 3013, Level 16, State 1, Line 1 RESTORE DATABASE is terminating abnormally. Before all default suggestions come up, this is what I have already done: Checkdb on original database --> no errors Restore the .bak file on my local machine --> no errors, so the backup is correct. What can I do to troubleshoot this? How can I get to the actual problem?
