User Action A redo, undo, or recovery error can be caused by a transient condition or by https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff713991(v=sql.105).aspx a permanent failure that occurs every time that you attempt to start the database. Note When any of these error conditions is encountered, SQL Server typically generates three files in the SQL ServerLOGfolder. The SQLDumpnnnn.txt file contains advanced diagnostic information relating to the failures, including the details about the transaction and the page that encountered the problem. For information about the cause of a given occurrence of error 3313, 3314, 3414, or 3456, examine the Windows Event Log for a previous error that indicates the specific failure. The appropriate user actions depend on whether the information in the Windows Event Log indicates that the SQL Server error was caused by a transient condition or a permanent failure. For a transient condition: Attempt to bring the database online by executing the followingALTER DATABASETransact-SQLstatement: ALTER DATABASE

Running SQL 2000 sp 3aWe got one database marked as suspect (not due to low disk space IMO) but to some other I-O problem. At first I thought we might have problems with the disk array but after running the diagnostics and chkdsk it is sql server service clean. When server comes up the same folks run the same reports and processes and complain about time outs/long running queries. I suspected the Tempdb and found that it had no start size specified so it had to grow itself from a meg to 600+ Megs in a hurry after a server re-start. Today we saw I-O errors in the log affecting TempdBAnyway we moved TempDB to the disk array where it has more room to grow.2006-05-31 14:46:55.93 spid18 Recovery of database 'CDS' (14) is 0% complete (approximately 3 more seconds) (Phase 2 of 3).2006-05-31 14:46:56.53 spid18 Error: 823, Severity: 24, State: 22006-05-31 14:46:56.53 spid18 I/O error (torn page) detected during read at offset 0x00000011fd6000 in file 'd:\mssql\data\CDS_Data.MDF'..2006-05-31 14:46:56.62 spid18 Error: 3313, Severity: 21, State: 22006-05-31 14:46:56.62 spid18 Error while redoing logged operation in database 'CDS'. your account only takes a few minutes. Join Now I have a MS Server 2003 SP2 running as a fax server using Captaris Rightfax. The database is not being connected to from the fax server. Event ID 3313, 3314, 3322, etc. It has to do with OBDC I am think but I am very unfamiliar with SQL server. If you have ever used Rightfax, I am getting an error code 2 describing not being able to connect using TCP\IP. I am very confused and I do not want to do more damage than is already done. Can anyone tell me how to connect a database back up?Any help would be appreciated. Thank you. Take note of the error message and specifically the state value given in the message. Use the state value to decode what the login failure is using the guide here: Troubleshooting Error 18456If you don't find 18456 errors for the failure, then it's not reaching SQL Server and you need to check things like firewalls, network paths, accessibility of SQL Server, etc. 0 Anaheim OP Fastduke Feb 17, 2014 at 8:02 UTC The event logs do not go back as far as I would like. I will do this and let you know. Where do I find the sql logs? On the sql server I am assuming...? 0 Thai Pepper OP Robert L Davis Feb 17, 2014 at 8:14 UTC Yes, they are stored as text files in the Log directory of the SQL Server installation. You can also execute xp_readerrorlog to output it to a query results window. I have a number of posts on using xp_readerrorlog starting with this one: SQL Server Error Logs, Part 1 0 Anaheim OP Greg (OpenText) Feb 19, 2014 at 9:58 UTC Brand Representative for OpenText Fastduke, It looks like you are having connectivity issues to the SQL server or the RightFax database housed on the SQL server. This can be caused by several issues such as network connectivity, SQL credentials, configuration issues, database permissions..etc There are Knowledge Base articles available at the OpenText Knowledge Center (knowledge.opentext.com) that address many common issues regarding SQL connectivity in a RightFax environment. 0 This discussion has been inactive for over a year.
