Rishi Maini SQL2K5 Admin Yak Posting Veteran India 80 Posts Posted-09/10/2006: 07:29:10 What is the root issue? Is your Database corrupted and you want to push Data out of it to another clean Database for Recovery ?If not can you sustain without the Log file and lose any active transactions inside the log file?If yes use "sp_attach_single_file_db" and attach just the MDF file and the log file will be recreated for you from scratch.ThanksRishi Maini Topic Forum Locked Printer Friendly Jump To: Select Forum General SQL Server Forums New to SQL Server Programming New to SQL Server Administration Script Library Data Corruption Issues Database Design and Application Architecture SQL Server 2012 Forums Transact-SQL (2012) SQL Server Administration (2012) SSIS and Import/Export (2012) Analysis Server and Reporting Services (2012) Replication (2012) Availability Groups and DR (2012) Other SQL Server 2012 Topics SQL Server 2008 Forums Transact-SQL (2008) SQL Server Administration (2008) SSIS and Import/Export (2008) High Availability (2008) Replication (2008) Analysis Server and Reporting Services (2008) Other SQL Server 2008 Topics SQL Server 2005 Forums Transact-SQL (2005) SQL Server Administration (2005) .NET Inside SQL Server (2005) SSIS and Import/Export (2005) S

177 What a fun way to start the week.We had a I/O failure on Friday morning (1 of the RAID 5 disks failed), so we proceeded to shutdown the database and make a cold backup (copy of database http://www.sqlteam.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=71732 filegroups) to another location. For some reason the server showed that one of our databases was 'suspect' when restarting it. One of my fellow coworkers detached the database, proceeded to restore the backup of the datafiles and then tried to reatach the database. All we get is: Error 3456 could not redo record (XXXX:XXXX:XXXX) for transaction ID (X:XXXXXXX) on page (X:XXXXX)......Suggestion pleaseThanksOscar Post #19470 Rodrigo AcostaRodrigo Acosta Posted Monday, December 22, 2003 8:56 AM SSCommitted Group: General Forum Members http://www.sqlservercentral.com/Forums/Topic19470-5-1.aspx Last Login: Thursday, May 21, 2015 7:40 AM Points: 1,581, Visits: 8 That is the error it shows when trying to attach?Check the SQL log to see what it says before dettaching the db when it was in status suspected and please, post it here.Do you have backups of the db up to the disk failure? It seems to me SQL coudn't recovery some transactions that where in the Log file before dettaching.
