Sql Server Error 53
first 0 It would appear that the login does not have rights to the "te_swd" database. Either you have a bad username/password configured someone where or someone is trying to access a db that they shouldn't. more ▼ 2 total comments 200 characters / 34 words answered Jan 07, 2011 at 05:55 AM Tim 40.4k ● 39 ● 84 ● 166 Thank for your reply, but from the error message it seems the sql server error 2 login is reaching up till the database, and trying to execute further command and meanwhile login failed. Please correct me if I am wrong. Jan 07, 2011 at 06:01 AM pits Good point, the login and password may be valid but that login does not have rights to the "te_swd" database. Can you tell what the login ID is that is generating this error? If so then take a look at that user in SSMS and see what databases the ID has rights to. Possible Cause and Remedy I encountered this error when working with a varchar(max) field, and attempting to update the field from 4052 characters to 4068 characters. I https://ask.sqlservercentral.com/questions/31641/ole-db-odbc-4200-error.html suspect that the SQL Native Client driver has a buffer limit and generates this error if its buffer is overflowed - presumably somewhere between the two numbers mentioned (be aware that this is speculation on my part as a buffer limits is not something http://www.cryer.co.uk/brian/mswinswdev/ms_vbnet_42000_data_types_varchar_max_text_incompatible.htm I can prove.) Possible remedies: Identify whether the contents of the field should grow to the size it is. If not then you may have an application error or issue. The above turned out to be my problem. So the following are what I would have tried next: Consider using a different driver from the SQL Native Client one, or checking whether a later version is available. These notes have been tested within Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2008 running under Windows Vista Business against SQL Server 2008, and may apply to other versions as well. Here is what I have done so far. File > Log On or Off Server Create New Connection > OLE DB (ADO) Under provider I selected Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server and click next. I select the server from the drop down list and put in the username and password for the local admin account. I am able to remote to the server using this account. For sql server error the database field I have tried to enter the database name and the path to the .mdf for this database. I get the same error either way. Login failed. I actually spent quite some time searching and analyzing our code. We have a job calling a stored procedure which selects some data and then calls other stored procedures (some which names are retrieved using the select-statements, since they might vary). It calls about 20 different of these stored procedures about 10'000 times (summed up the different calls), just varying the parameters. These stored procedures retrieve some data and then inserts the data into our databse. Version of SQL-Server This worked fine in Microsoft SQL-Server 2005, but since a little while we upgraded to SQL-Server 2012 (11.0.3000.0) and this problem seems to started occurring since then, or we simply were not aware of it before. I know this is very little information, but our scripts are pretty big and I would like to ask what some of you would to to figure out the problem.
